Fresno Dash
PRIMERCARTEL
by Danny Camp
The Fresno Dash - a 350-yard race with a title that sounds like it could be a new dance - was worth a total of $20,300.
The contest was held Oct.10 at the Fresno County Fairgrounds in Fresno, California.
Primercartel came away with the first place check worth $10,922 after a hard fought contest.
Cesar Moreno made a stellar ride. Breaking fourth from the five-post, he had to straighten his mount. Then, hustling and riding hard, the jockey urged Primercartel forward and the pair finished a neck in front.
The seven-year-old gelding stopped the timer at :17.667 earning a speed index of 104.
Primercartel is bred and owned by Etelvina & Isaias Olmos and trained by Isuro M. Guillen.
The gelding is out of Dashs Windwalker, who is a winner from one start. The mare has produced 100% money earners from her three starters.
Primercartel is Dashs Windwalker’s first stakes winner with a race record of four wins out of ten starts. The $10,922 winner’s share from the Fresno Dash takes his total bankroll to $30,244.
A Corona Sunset (Corona Cartel-Sonoma Sunset), the top money earner in the field with over $300,000 banked, finished second. He was the outside horse and Martin Arriaga, who was in the irons, had to keep him pointed down the track. His connections include owner John R. Haagsma and trainer Eloy Navarro.
In the middle of the track and a nose behind the second place horse was Outdashn (Check Him Out- Dashnlitia). His team includes owner Jose Carlos De Luna and trainer Isauro M Guillen. Luis Lira was handling the reins.
Feature Dashnon (Feature Mr Jess-Dashnon) was fourth, followed by JDBS Royal Rona (Royal Evening Snow-Bugs Ryan) and Rarely Occurs (Stel Corona- Seldom Happens). A Corona Habit was scratched.
Wayne Brasher Memorial S.
BRINGIN IT ON
by John Moorehouse
Bringin It On became a multiple stakes winner on Nov. 7, taking the $17,500 Wayne Brasher Memorial Stakes at Turf Paradise.
Bringin It On led at every call of the 300-yard
race, breaking on top from the No. 4 gate, leading by a head as he entered the stretch and then out-nod- ding Mackies Wagon at the finish line. A six-year-old gelding, Bringin It On now holds 11 victories in 23 lifetime starts, and his career bankroll swelled to $86,834 with the addition of this $10,308 prize.
This marked the first stakes win for Bringin It On since his rookie year when he captured the 2011 version of the Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge.
Ralph and Carolyn Fales own and bred Bringin It On, who is trained by Matthew Fales. Jockey Jorge Bourdieu drew the riding assignment, completing the trip in :15.338 to register a 105 speed index.
The Fales also own the dam of Bringin It On,
2001 mare Already In Love, who was stakes-placed as
a competitor before becoming a broodmare. She has foaled nine offspring, including seven starters, although Bringin It On remains her only stakes winner.
Mackies Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Deer Mackie TB) was the pre-race favorite, but came
in second. Ricardo Biebrich is the owner and Roy Ronquillo the trainer. Emilio Tapia did the riding. Shes A Real Choice (A Regal Choice-Open With Deuces) hit the board in third place for owner Angelica Maria Guillen and trainer Benito Guillen Vega. Martin Osuna was in the irons.
The remaining order of finish was Jo Jo Hot Legs (Executive Menace-Casino Mill), Corona Toast (Toast To Dash-Corona Cerveza), Paint Your Attraction (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Half Time Attraction), Stel Redneck (Stel Corona-Redneck Cowgirl), Reacorona Jr (Jesse James Jr-Reacorona), Royal Looker (Royal Cartel-Totally A Looker) & Apollitical Legacy (Apollitical Jess-Brazilian Dasher).
