The Race Track Chaplaincy of America (RTCA) White Horse Awards were held in conjunction with the Breeders’ Cup World Championships
at Churchill Downs in Lexington, Kentucky, featuring Hall of Fame jockey and Triple Crown winner Mike Smith as the guest speaker. The White Horse Award went this year collectively
to “The Heroes from the San Luis Rey Training Center Fire” because of events that took place on and after Dec. 7, 2017, when a California wildfire hit the property. The Community Service Award went to All American Ruidoso Downs ownership and management following the construction and dedication of a chapel on track grounds.
