Kaweah Bar Handicap-G3
CRESTON GOER
by Tracy Gantz
Anyone who claims horses bred by Dr. Ed Allred will likely get a horse with good pedigree. Owner Guillermo Delgadillo certainly did when
he claimed Creston Goer out of a winning race for $10,000 in 2010. The gelding most recently won the April 22 Kaweah Bar Handicap-G3 at Los Alamitos.
After capturing an allowance race to kick off his 2012 season, Creston Goer went off as the 8-5 favorite in the Kaweah Bar. He bounced out of the gate on top under jockey Cruz Mendez so quickly that no one had any real chance to challenge. Forrest Fire raced well on the rail, but he never threatened Creston Goer, who won by three-quarters of a length.
Since the claim, Creston Goer has won three allowance races. He also finished second in the 2010 Autumn Handicap. Jose Moreno now trains the four-year-old for Delgadillo, and the trainer was win- ning his first Los Alamitos stakes in the Kaweah Bar.
Allred bred Creston Goer from winner Secret Goer, who has produced nine winners from 14 Quarter Horse starters, including graded stakes-placed Go And Dash. Secret Goer also foaled the stakes-winning Paint Uncle Ed. Second dam Go Proudly is a Grade 1 winner, and third dam Charger Bar was a world champion.
Mimi Wells’ homebred Forrest Fire (Walk Thru Fire-Chicks Tell) finished second for jockey Rodrigo Aceves and trainer Dan Francisco. Forrest Fire most recently won the Katella Handicap.
Third-place Jumpn Shake (Jumpn-Jess Shakem) races for Chad Hart and Bobby Cox. Juan Andrade rode the colt for trainer Jaime Gomez.
Completing the field were De Moss (Separatist- Classic Sassy Chic), Dash Him Out (Check Him Out-Dashnon), BF Farm Boy (Hawkinson-Shirleys Strawfly), Significant Cartel (Corona Cartel-Dash Master Miss), Flaming Out (Walk Thru Fire-Jetsetting Girl), Frosty Younger (Separatist-Perfect Mom), and Parsons Rock (First Down Dash-Mini Rock).
Delta Dash
EYESA WESTERN
by John Moorehouse
Age appears to agree with Eyesa Western. Anireal Chavira’s 7-year-old gelding continued the strong start to his 2012 season, winning the Delta Dash on April 27 to tally his second victory in three outs thus far this year. Both wins have come in stakes company, with Eyesa Western also finishing first in the Swift Stakes on Jan. 28 at Louisiana Downs.
Eyesa Western has finished no worse than second in 2012, claiming runner-up honors in the Harrah’s Dash back in January. The Harrah’s Dash and Delta Dash were run at the same distance, 250 yards, but there was no stopping Eyesa Western this time.
With Randy Edison aboard, Eyesa Western got away from the No. 6 gate sharply and seized the lead from Louisianaschoolboy at mid-stretch. Those two remained stride for stride to the finish, where Eyesa Western proved best by a neck. Also trained by his owner, Eyesa Western finished in :13.041. It marked the gelding’s ninth win in 51 outs, and produced a $12,000 payday that pushed his lifetime earnings to $102,840.
Bred by Burnett Ranches Ltd., Eyesa Western is the only foal of Western Debt, a lightly-raced 2001 mare. His second dam is champion Down With Debt.
Louisianaschoolboy (Alabama Schoolboy- Ettabos Reason), a 25-1 longshot, finished second for Wade Hall III. The Willie Simien Jr. trainee had Raul Ramirez Jr. aboard. Heza Gand Ds Dash (Heza Fast Dash-Mary Snow), who placed third by a nose, is owned by Casey Haywood and trained by Vann Haywood. Bobby Ransom did the riding.
The remaining order of finish was Waving At The Chicks (Wave Carver-Bay Or Gray Chick), She Is A Fast Dash (Heza Fast Dash-Style N Grace), Coup De Dasher (Some Dasher-Minnie Coup De Dash), Jess Courageous (Achievement-Shes Jess Special), Blue Rare Bear (One Rare Bug-Eye Shine Special), General Gordiz (Awesome Chrome-Killer Corona) and The Real Game (Game Patriot-Streakin Duchess).
Gem County Fair Futurity
ALLTHESHINE
by Tracy Gantz
The Gem County Fair Futurity contained plenty of drama, with a dead heat and a disqualifica- tion. None of it affected fastest qualifier Alltheshine, however, who beat her competition in the final.
Bekas Ima Snazzysign broke fastest along the rail of the April 28 Futurity. Jockey Dallas Erickson got Alltheshine away well in second from post six, and they came on to grab the lead from Bekas Ima Snazzysign and win by a half-length in :15.561.
In between those two, Wave Of Chicks broke out sharply, sandwiching Lookin Good Abe and Secret Hero when Chicks Royal Dude broke in. Wave Of Chicks finished third, with Lookin Good Abe and Chicks Royal Dude dead-heating for fourth. The stewards disqualified Wave Of Chicks to fifth, moving Lookin Good Abe and Chicks Royal Dude into third.
Alltheshine made her racing debut in her April 14 trial for the Gem County Fair Futurity, defeating Bekas Ima Snazzysign by a half-length. Guy Weeks trains the filly for Movin On.
Grant Farms LLC bred Alltheshine in
Louisiana from the winning Streakin La Jolla mare Menoalamo. The mare has produced two winners from three starters, the other winner, Moshine, a full sister to Alltheshine and an earner of $63,424.
Nikeela Black rode Bekas Ima Snazzysign (Devons Signature-Snazzy Be Kas) for owners Kelly and Kyle Cook and trainer Monte Arossa. Lookin Good Abe (Looking For Chicks-A Societys Lass) was ridden by Dirk Crane for owner/breeder/trainer Jay Pitcher. Hibbard and Udy Maughn’s Chicks Royal Dude (Prime Talent-Three Chicks Royal) was ridden by Todd Thomas and trained by Reggie Anger.
Completing the official order of finish were Wave Of Chicks (Wave Carver-Bay Or Gray Chick), Feeling The Jump (Jumpn-Stuckonafeeling), Secret Hero (Valiant Hero-With Real Intent), and Jess A Legacy (Jess Louisiana Blue-A Diamond Legacy).
