Watah Flash (First Moonflash-Lotawatah)
earned the $49,296 runner-up share of the Remington Park Derby purse for owner Lane and Sons Cattle Company, which purchased the sorrel colt for $46,000 at the 2017 Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. The second-fastest qualifier, Watah Flash finished a neck behind Apocalyptical Jess
in his trial heat. Watah Flash was ridden by Alfredo Triana Jr. for trainer John Stinebaugh.
Lynnder 16 (Apollitical Jess-Tinys Corona Queen) finished in third place,
2 1/4-lengths behind Apocalyptical Jess,
for owners Tom Maher and Dick Tobin. Cristian Esqueda rode the sorrel filly,
who won last year’s Remington Park Futurity-RG2 and was a finalist in the All American Futurity-G1. Lynnder 16 is condi- tioned by trainer Jason Olmstead.
Temptingsecretfly (Tempting Dash-Belle Of The Cartel) ran fourth and was followed
by Miss Perrys Tres (Tres Seis-Mr Perrys Wine), Sr Shegone (Mighty B Valiant-Jessta Lil Spitfire), Wilder Ways (Valiant Hero-Cruzin The Wagon) and Miss Eysa Senator (Louisiana Senator-Eyes A Shazoom). Charlies Fury and Separate Jets were scratched.
