when her homebred One Dashing Hero
won a maiden claiming race on April 19 and her homebred Relentless Gun captured the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile on April 20. “I thought there was no way I was going to win two races in a row,” said

Relentless Gun in the 330- yard Juvenile. Breaking fifth, Relentless Gun raced into contention, increased his advantage, and won by 1-length in :16.909. In his only other start, the gelding ran second in a trial for the Remington Park Oklahoma- Bred Futurity-RG1.
Crawford owns 300- acre Running C Ranch in

Missouri, and breeds and owns horses in the ranch name. She and her husband, David, raced some horses, including CF Smokin Gun, the dam of Relentless Gun, prior to David’s death in 2015.
“My husband and I got her at Heritage Place,” said Crawford of CF Smokin Gun. “She did good for us, but she kept having leg problems.”
They met trainer Guillermo Valdivia at Heritage Place. Valdivia trained CF Smokin Gun and now condi- tions Relentless Gun and
One Dashing Hero. Valdivia was winning the Juvenile for the second time, following Smokin Bye You in 2011.
After David died, CF Smokin Gun developed a bone chip in a knee. “I know Dave wanted to use her as a broodmare, and I just don’t think we should race her
anymore,” Valdivia told Jeannie. So, Jeannie bred the mare to Hes Relentless, foaling Relentless Gun in Oklahoma. CF Smokin Gun has a yearling colt by One Famous Eagle and
a suckling colt by Ivory James. Crawford bred the mare back to Hes Relentless this year.

In any sport, a tie can feel less than satisfying. Quarter Horse racing is just as competitive, but sometimes, tying feels just as good as win-
ning. Such was the case in the $100,000 Sooner State Stakes on April 20 at Remington Park.
“I’m gonna take that dead heat all day
long. It counts. It’s better than second,” said John Stinebaugh, the trainer of Hes Limitless who is owned by Jack Smith Farms. Political Attraction is owned by Rogelio Marquez Jr. & Kathy Robinson and trained by R.L. Robinson.
“Let me tell you, that horse [Political Attraction] has beaten me twice,” Stinebaugh said. “I can beat him short, but I can’t beat him when we get very far down that track.”
That changed in the Sooner State. Hes Limitless & Agustin Silva got away from the gates best of the two, although Political Attraction & James Flores moved into the lead by a head as they reached the stretch. Hes Limitless rallied to meet the wire simultaneously with his rival.
“I thought if we got away good we’d be in front,” Stinebaugh said. “That horse looked like he got past me, four or five jumps before the wire. It surprised me; my horse came back to him. When they hit the wire, where I was standing, I thought we won by a head.”
Hes Limitless scored his 1st career stakes win in his 16th out, winning for the 3rd time to up his earnings to $383,034. Political Attraction logged his 5th stakes win, and 2nd in as many starts at Remington this year, while pushing his lifetime bankroll to $431,590.
Hooked On A Win (PYC Paint Your Wagon- Pretty Girl Kate) was 3rd under Daniel Torres for Regina Laymon & trainer Kenny Laymon. Followed by Admiral Sting (Apollitical Jess- Sting Scorpion Sting), Racanteur (High Rate Of Return-Shanachee), AJs High (Apollitical Jess- Regally Rare), VF Adrenaline Rush (Apollitical Jess-Shawnies Dasher) and Bye Byefreighttrain (Freighttrain B-Bye Bye Bygones).
