Olmedo Lopez’s Freighttrain King score a wire- to-wire win in the 350-yard $35,000 Albuquerque Juvenile Stakes for two year olds at Albuquerque Downs on Oct. 23.
Prepped by Shawna Manriquez and ridden by Juan Pulido, Freighttrain King defeated Chequer Out by a half of a length in a hand-timed :17.230. The homebred son of the PYC Paint Your Wagon stallion Freighttrain B earned a 98 speed index and the $16,100 winner’s share of the $35,000 purse.
Freighttrain King was bred in Colorado, and he was making his first start since Aug. 28 when he ran fourth, 1-length behind winner Here Comes Candy, in the 350-yard $84,000 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge-G3. The bay gelding is out of Sheza Miracle Chico, an unplaced 10-year-old daughter of Champion Dean Miracle. Freighttrain King traces back to his 4th dam, Miss Babe Bug, a winning daughter of the Lady Bug’s Moon stallion Shawne Bug who ran 2nd in the 1995 Black Gold 350 Futurity.
Freighttrain King has won two of eight outs while racing in two states and he has banked $32,864. He was also a finalist in the Oklahoma Juvenile in March.
Chequer Out (Dominyun-Check N Fetch)
was second for owner Mitch Milliron. Francisco Calderon rode the filly for trainer R. Allen Hybsha. Tresponte (Duponte-Senorita Tres) finished third for owner Jose Aguilar Mendoza. Gerardo Vera rode the colt for trainer Eloy Navarro. Gettingafterit
(A Revenant-Seperate Secrets) ran fourth and was followed officially by Dedikated (Duponte-Kpax), Valentino Pete (Hes Relentless-Mystical Eye), Cuz Hez My Secret (Hez Our Secret-Cuz Shez Famous), Going Caliente (Corona Caliente-Going Corona), Sandstone Senator (Louisiana Senator-Eyes A Shazoom), and Precious Dynasty (FDD Dynasty- Eyesa Precious), who was DQ’d from 8th place.

Thunder and Wieburg at the end of their 400- yard trips, as the two sophomores finished in a dead heat for the win in the $40,000 Lobo Derby on
Oct. 23 at Albuquerque Downs in :19.898. Edgar Martinez rode Echo Of Thunder for owner Miguel Mendoza and trainer Alejandro Chavez, while Daniel Torres rode Wieburg for owner/trainer Pat Swan.
Echo Of Thunder was bred in Utah by Birrell Farms. A son of Turbulent Times, the gelding is out
of BF Memory Lane, a homebred mare who won the 2012 Beehive Futurity. Echo Of Thunder has won five of 11 races and has banked $74,507. He has won two stakes, including last year’s 350-yard $96,000 Beehive Futurity. Wieburg has won five of 16 starts and has earned $72,828. He was a finalist in four stakes events. Wieburg was homebred in Oklahoma out of 3-time winner/multiple stakes placed Hollie Jollie.
Charlenas Relentless (Hes Relentless-Jess Charlena) was 3rd under Agustin Silva for owners Tom & Kathleen McNally and trainer Jordan Baumann. South Dakota Bred Futurity
RELENTLESS DREAM

broke his maiden in the Oct. 2 South Dakota Bred Futurity for state-bred juveniles at Fort Pierre.
Prepped by Tyler Stein and aided by a 7-mph tail wind, Relentless Dream went 250 yards on a track labeled heavy in :14.027 with a 3/4-length margin of victory. Zack Ziegler rode the brown gelding, who banked the $8,085 winner’s share of a $16,500 purse.
Relentless Dream is out of Valiant Dreams V, a winning 7-year-old daughter of Valiant Hero who Maher purchased for $6,000 at the 2017 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale.
Relentless Dream’s 3rd dam, winner Corona Bodacious Dream, was a finalist in two Grade 2
stakes in 2007. Bodacious Dream foaled Bodacious Eagle, a half brother to FM Future Dreams and the sport’s Champion Aged Horse in 2018. Relentless Dream traces back to his 4th dam, 2-time Champion Dashing Phoebe, dam of five stakes winners, including Champions Heartswideopen and Special Phoebe.
Relentless Dream has earned $15,138 from 8 races, and his record includes a 3rd-place finish in the $23,400 1889 Futurity for North and South Dakota-bred 2 year olds at Canterbury Park on Aug. 25. The gelding was also a finalist in the $71,362 Minnesota Stallion Auction Futurity on July 6.
