her record to 16-4-1-4 and the $112,800 winner’s share of the purse increased her bankroll to $196,265. Bred in New Mexico by Robert Stratton and Neale and Shawn Edwards, Milagro Lady is produced from the stakes-placed Jesse James Jr mare Ping Pong Patty, who hit the board in four of six lifetime starts and placed third in the 2012 By By JJ Stakes at Ruidoso Downs. The dam has produced three winners from six starters, Milagro Lady being her only stakes performer.
“It was a good win,” said Neale Edwards, who currently has five horses in training and a broodmare band of six. “We got it all right that day. That horse has a big heart, and if she gets out the right way, you can count
on her to run. There were some good horses in there. There will be some races for her
in New Mexico in the coming year, and we hope to hit a few of them.”
Runner-up Brookes Legacy (Big Daddy Cartel-Apollitical Brooke) finished a game second under jockey Jacob Enriquez. The graded stakes-winning daughter of Big Daddy Cartel dueled throughout but could not match strides with the winner late. The gray 4-year-old filly is campaigned by Oscar Diaz and is trained by Armando Alamos. Samantha and Lilly Leyba bred Brookes Legacy in New Mexico. The filly won the Lou Wooten and Sydney Valentini Stakes-RG2 in January and was a finalist in the Jimmy Drake Stakes-RG3 and Champagne Lane Stakes.
EBW Dancnthemoonlite (First Moonflash-Dance Like a Fool), with jockey Emilio Tapia aboard, finished a head behind Brookes Legacy in third. Racing for owner Jimmy Vasquez, EBW Dancnthemoonlite
is trained by David Gomez-Barraza and the 4-year-old filly was bred in New Mexico by Ernie and Brenda Wood. This is the first stakes performance of her career and she has previously won allowance races at Ruidoso Downs and Zia Park this year.
My Heart Jess Runs (Jess a Chicks-Shes in My Heart), Cat Got a Diamond (Elegant Cat-TB-Rabbits N Diamonds), Maka Roon (Eye Am King-C Roon), BF Jessrageous (Jesse James Jr-BF Fooserageous), KJ Daddys Money (Big Daddy Cartel-KJ Kiss Me Goodbye), and Warm Red Wine (Big Daddy Cartel-Sandys Fame) completed the order of finish. Get Down Dragon, Tickle the Nickel, and Woodys Storm
were scratched.
Jockey Manuel Gutierrez and trainer Lonnie Vaughn celebrate the win.
