a prompt 3-5 favorite in the $40,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes-G2 at Ruidoso Downs on July 30.
Bomb Cyclone covered 400 yards in :19.337 while recording a 102 speed index, and his margin of victory was a clear 1 1/2-lengths from Lethal Avenger. Eduardo Nicasio rode the bay son of Favorite Cartel for trainer Chris O’Dell.
Bomb Cyclone was coming off of a troubled sixth-place finish in the 350-yard John Andreini Memorial Stakes on May 29.
A $215,000 purchase at the 2020 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Bomb Cyclone was bred in California by Dr. Steve Burns. The gelding is out of AQHA Dam of Distinction Remember Me Rose, and he is a full brother to Grade 1 winners Cyber Monday, Powerful Favorite, and Runforyourlife.
Bomb Cyclone was winning for the seventh time in 12 starts, and the $24,000 winner’s share of the purse from his third graded stakes victory pushed his earnings to $1,404,191.
Lethal Avenger (Volcom-Lethal Class) pocketed the $8,000 runner-up share of the purse for his owners, J & SM Inc., Don Reynolds, and M. Lane Reynolds. Noe Garcia Jr. rode the 4-year-old gelding for trainer Fred Danley.
Valeriano Racing Stables’ Watch Out (Fly Thru The Fire-Look Her Over) finished third. Francisco Calderon rode the 4-year-old gelding for trainer Santos Carrizales Jr.
Just A Kool Boy (Favorite Cartel-Just Eagle) ran 4th and was followed by Perrys Moon Lips (Jess Lips- Perrys First), Valiant Charm (Valiant Hero-Charmin Chief Corona), Mr Racy Perry (Apollitical Jess- Volcoms Delight), Mitey Political (Apollitical Jess- Mitey Moon), and Alamo Lake (Favorite Cartel-No Arizona). Delight Us All was scratched.
Caliente made a strong drive on the outside to take home the win in the $59,500 TQHA Sale Sophomore Stakes at Retama Park on July 28. Piloted by jockey Claudio Aguilar, the gelding pulled ahead in the stretch and crossed the wire by 1 3/4 lengths. He breezed the 400 yards in :19.711, scoring himself an impressive speed index of 109.
Daddy Caliente collected a winner’s purse of $37,485 for owner Mi Cielo Ranch. The three year old gelding has completed 11 career starts for trainer Brian Stroud. He has finished in the money 8 of those starts and now holds a career earnings of $205,550. The gelding finished second in the Dash For Cash Futurity Grade 2 at Lone Star Park last October.
Bred by Jose R Espinosa, Daddy Caliente is the first stakes winning progeny out of lightly raced Valiant Flame.
After dueling for place, Deagree (Capo
De Capi-Eye Agree) and jockey Noe Villatoro secured their position by a nose. The brown gelding took home a share of $11,900. He is owned by J.J. Racing and is trained by Adan Guzman. Deagree has finished in the money in 5 of his 10 career starts.
Under jockey Ali Rivera, Jess the One (Jess Good Candy-Paloma Blanca B) was out finished for place. The colt didn’t go home empty handed, with an earnings of $6,545 for owner Omar Paredes and trainer Leonel Hernandez.
Funny Faced Eagle (This Is An Eagle-R Imperial Princess) and jockey Raul Ramirez Jr. faltered. The gelding is owned and bred by Mary G. Thompson and trained by Toby Keeton.
Blood N Pepper and Passage of a Woman were both scratched.

hen the dust settled at the conclusion of the
TQHA 250 Stakes at Retama Park on July 28, not even a camera could separate the top two finishers, resulting in a dead heat between Mo Delirio and Lucky Larry in the $53,750 event.
Lucky Larry and Mr Teco dueled through the early stages. Piloted by Juan Garcia, Mo Delirio hit his best stride in the lane and collared the early leaders to hit the finish together with Lucky Larry under H. Hernandez. The pair stopped the timer in :13.425 with both runners earning a 95 speed index.
Mo Delirio (Desirio-Mo Anita Cartel), a homebred for Manuel Ortiz, is trained by Enrique Alvarado. The son of Desirio is now a four-time winner in 14 career starts. His $21,500 winner’s share of the purse increased his bankroll to $65,504. M Racing owns Lucky Larry, who
is trained by Willie Simien Jr. Now a two-time winner, Lucky Larry (Down N Dash-Mary Cartel) improved his bankroll to $36,725.
Mr Teco (Man Who Wouldbe King-My Cold Corona) finished third. The bay gelding, who is owned and was bred by Jose Oviedo and is trained by Victor Oviedo, was piloted by Luciano Duenez.
Jess A Dashin Angela (Dash Master Jess-Mi Angela), Passage Of A Woman (This Cartel Is Colt-Mountain Woman), Passporte (Duponte-Jess Significant), and Moonin The Ace (Moonin The Eagle-Ace Cinnan) completed the order of finish. Jess A Cali Blue was scratched.
