Delight Interest broke in sixth under Juan Pulido and quickly moved to second where he dueled throughout the 440 yards to cross the wire in front by 1/2-length to secure the top qualifying spot. Delight Interest won his first stakes race in the West Texas Derby-G3 in February of this year, and then scored in the Sam Houston Derby-G3. The gelding’s other stakes event is a second in the 2022 Evangeline Downs Futurity-G3. The gelding was bred by George Mitchell and is owned by
Triple Five. The Toby Keeton trainee had Juan Pulido in the irons.
GETTHERE FAST SI 95, $310,550
Getthere Fast is still looking for his first stakes victory. The gelding has made nine starts and hit the board eight times. He finished second in last year’s Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and was also third in the Rainbow Futurity-G1. In his All American Derby trial, Getthere Fast broke on top and made quick work of the 440 yards with a 3/4-length finish, securing the second spot on the qualifying ladder. The gelding was bred by JCJ Racing and is owned by Simmons Racing. Bryan Candanosa was aboard for trainer Toby Keeton.
CHASING AJ SI 96, $472,079
After finishing third in last year’s All American Futurity-G1, Chasing AJ started his season with
a second in the Ruidoso Invitational and third in the Rainbow Derby-G1. So far this season, the gelding has won or place in all five of his starts. In his All American Derby trial, Chasing AJ broke in fourth and quickly made up ground, but was out finished and settled for second for the third qualifying spot. The gelding was bred by Don Griffin Jr. and is owned by Steve Holt, Charles Cox, Jack Powers and Roger Moore. The Heath Taylor trainee had Rodrigo Sigala Vallejo aboard.
SHAKERS NO SECRET SI 112, $142,692
Already a stakes winner, Shakers No Secret won the West Texas Maturity-G3 in March of this year. He was also a finalist in the Ruidoso Derby-G1 earlier this season, as well as in last year’s Evangeline Downs Futurity-G3. Making his 7th start of 2023, Shakers No Secret took third place in his All American Derby trial under Christian Ramos for trainer Marc Jungers, securing the fourth fastest qualifying spot. The gelding was bred by Garlyn Shelton and is owned by Abel & Ethan Lopez and Manny Dutchover.
MAGNANIMOUS V SI 90, $60,295
Magnanimous V began 2023 as a finalist in the Ruidoso Derby-G1 and has hit the board four times from his five starts this season. In his All American Derby trial, Magnanimous V overcame a poor start and got up for second place and the fifth qualifying spot. Bred by Sammy Valeriano, the colt is owned by Valeriano Racing Stables LLC, trained by Santos Carrizales Jr. and was ridden by Francisco Calderon.
