ITSMYIVORY
by Tracy Gantz
Itsmyivory may not have qualified for the rich Heritage Place Futurity-G1, but he added to his undefeated record when he captured the $100,000
Heritage Place Juvenile at Remington Park on June 3. In both of his first two starts, one in the Sam
Houston Futurity trials at Sam Houston Race Park and the other in the Heritage Place Futurity trials at Remington, Itsmyivory competed on the first and faster day of trials and didn’t qualify for the finals. Owner/breeder Bobby Cox and trainer Josue Ponce entered Itsmyivory in the Heritage Place Juvenile, however, with excellent results.
Favored at 3-2 and ridden by Jose Alvarez, Itsmyivory broke from the 2-post in seventh and immediately rushed into contention. He finished the 350-yard race strongly to win by 1/2-length in :17.576 for an 86 speed index.
Cox bred Itsmyivory from the Thoroughbred stakes-winning mare Itsmybag, who earned $181,966 while competing in Louisiana and Texas. She has pro- duced 100% money earners from 16 Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred foals. Her Quarter Horse foals include stakes winner Atouche and stakes placed Streaked
Face Bay, Conquests, and Prince Valleyant. Her only Thoroughbred foal is stakes winner Passmybag.
Eddie D. Willis trained 2nd-place Aqua Girl (Corona Cartel-Aquafina) for owner Mike Vaughan. Stormy Smith was aboard. Also trained by Eddie
D. Willis, Lady Eagle 123 (One Famous Eagle-Hot Cash 123) finished 3rd under Omar Reyes for owner Larry Rice.
