 Green Country P&A Handicap
FlASHtHeCHICkS
by Tracy Gantz
Flashthechicks brought two World Champion Paint titles into the Oct. 14 Green Country Paint and Appaloosa Handicap at Will Rogers Downs, and a
victory boosted his lifetime earnings to third on the all- time leading Paint earners list with $261,780, behind only Got Country Grip and SM Country Snowman.
The Green Country attracted another World Champion, PF Chief Runnin Bear, plus two
other divisional champs, Barney Ofield and Flash Of Silk. With regular jockey G.R. Carter Jr. in California for the Los Alamitos Super Derby trials, Alex Baldillez Jr. piloted Flashthechicks for trainer Luis Villafranco. He got the 3-year-old geld-
ing out of the gate quickly from the outside post. While Jacis Flashy Girl and Barney Ofield ran with Flashthechicks early, they couldn’t withstand his lengthening stride at the wire. Flashthechicks won by 1 1/4 lengths in :17.722 for the 350 yards.
Owner Shirley Wheeler bred Flashthechicks in Oklahoma from winner Game Chicken. Flashthechicks has won four other stakes, including this year’s PSBA Derby and Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Derby. Game Chicken’s only other starter, Imachickenkicker, captured this year’s Pot O’ Gold Futurity-G1.
Jay Ross’ homebred Jacis Flashy Girl APHA (SF Royal Quick Flash-TRM Countess Corona) finished second for jockey Raul Gutierrez and trainer Jeff Dean.
Third-place Barney Ofield APHA (Judys Lineage-Shero) races for Julie Haywood and Joni Willis. Willis’ husband, Eddie L. Willis, trains the 6-year-old gelding, and Kenny Muntz rode him.
Completing the field were Flash Of Silk APHA (SF Royal Quick Flash-Judys Silk), PF Chief Runnin Bear APHA (Grand Point-SC Running Cloud), Wendys
A Lil Country APHA (Country Chicks Man-Wendy Dash), and Power House Man APHA (Country Chicks Man-Linda Lajolla). Runaway Argus APHA and Spotless Redneck APHA were scratched.
Red Cell tuP Distance Challenge
PRInCe BAC
by Tracy Gantz
Prince Bac has been a useful horse his entire racing career, but the 8-year-old gelding never has been able to string victories together until 2012. He is cur-
rently riding the best winning streak of his life, hav- ing won a claiming race at SunRay Park, the Special Hank Stakes at Albuquerque, and most recently the Oct. 14 Red Cell Turf Paradise Distance Challenge.
The Turf Paradise Distance Challenge also gave Prince Bac his most emphatic victory. Sent away the 1-10 favorite in the four-horse field, he jumped out
on top under jockey Jorge Bourdieu. Mister Michael quickly took over the lead, and Prince Bac was content to remain in second on the rail around the turn. He took over coming out of the bend, and though he drifted out, Prince Back annihilated his foes, winning by 5 1/2 lengths in :46.065 for the 870 yards. The win gave him a berth in the Oct. 27 Red Cell Distance Challenge Championship-G1 at Prairie Meadows.
Gerardo Ochoa-Pena owns Prince Bac and has trained him since early last year. The gelding has won five races in Ochoa-Pena’s care, and he finished third in the 2012 Red Cell Sunland Distance Challenge-G3. The estate of Duane Ellsworth bred Prince Bac in Arizona from winner Queen Creek Queen. The mare has 10 winners from 12 starters, including stakes winners Wild About Sam, Tacky Prince, Tacky Queen, and Beduino Creek.
Dean Frey owns and trains Mister Michael (Snowbound TB-Dash For Kate), who finished sec- ond under Gregorio Arriaga. The 3-year-old colt has won a maiden and allowance race in seven starts.
Cody McDaniel piloted Nofearoffailure (Feature Mr Jess-Play Together) to third. Alvin Turner trains the 9-year-old gelding for Gully Enterprises Inc. Nofearoffailure has raced primarily in the claiming ranks and has eight wins in 41 starts.
Electric Snowbound (Snowbound TB-Silk Spurs) finished fourth, and Feature Mr Jac was scratched.
John Deere tuP Juv. Challenge

Miss Jess Rogue, the dam of Jess Like Stoli, was a stakes winner with a six-figure bankroll. Jess Like Stoli’s already matched the first of those accom-
plishments. The gelding will have a shot at equaling the second feat in late October, all in his 2-year-old season. By winning the $20,000 John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge on Oct. 14 at Turf Paradise, Jess Like Stoli qualified for the $150,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship-G2 on Oct. 27 at Prairie Meadows.
Previously third in the Four Corners Futurity-G3 at SunRay, Jess Like Stoli broke his maiden in the Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge trials, running a :17.891 that held up as the top qualifying time.
Jess Like Stoli drew the outside starting position in the final, and had to rally from a mediocre start. The gelding found another gear midway through the 350- yard event, and jockey Jorge Bourdieu got him to the wire a nose in front in :17.919. Owned and trained by Cynthia Guadalupe Gonzalez, Jess Like Stoli earned $9,200 to improve his total earnings to $32,757.
Triple M Farms LLC bred Jess Like Stoli, the first stakes winner from five starters for Miss Jess Rogue, winner of the 2005 Zia Juvenile Invitational.
Dashaway Eagle (One Famous Eagle-Oh Dashaway) placed second for owner Alejandro
Uriel Martinez. The filly was trained by Armando Castellanos and ridden by Rodolfo Arvizu. Castellanos also owns and trains Black Storm Regard (Chicks Regard-Miss Quick Houston), who finished third with Emilio Tapia aboard.
Madd Dog (Dog Daze Afternoon-Merri Roc), Corona For Everybody (Corona For Me-Blushing Dale), Iza Sugar N Spice (Toast To Dash-Iza Flyin Eye), JR Best Regard (Chicks Regard-Lanes Of Royalty), Ianna (Brimmerton-El Streaker), Gone On A Wave (Wave Carver-Im Gone For A Corona) and PC (Feature Mr Jess-Ladys Heart Of Gold) completed the field.
