  Fort erie Maturity

Finche has raced sparingly every season, which may be why he finds the winner’s circle each year. Now 7, he started slowly,
debuting at 3 with only one appearance, but
he is making up for that with a slew of stakes wins and placings. Finche graduated to a stakes victory in open company when he captured the Oct. 17 Fort Erie Maturity.
Away last out of the gate from post three, Finche veered out slightly
right after the start. Jockey
Debbie Freeman straight-
ened him out, but they had some catching up to do. Favored I See Candy Paint made a big run from post eight. Four horses hit the wire at virtually the same time, strung out across the width of the track. The photo showed Finche the winner by a head in :20.140 for the 400 yards.
Finche won his first stakes in 2011, when he captured the Sooner State Stakes-RG1, a race
he placed in the year before, and the Mighty Deck Three Handicap. He has also run second in three other stakes, and he finished third in this year’s Mighty Deck Three. Larry Abney trains the gelding and co-owns him with breeder Chris Sheehy.
Sheehy bred Finche in Oklahoma from winner Doctor Prospector.
With nine winners in 11 starters, the mare has got- ten multiple stakes winner Shawshank and stakes- placed La Stat, Kyserblade, and Yoast.
Joyce and Erik Lehtinen’s homebred Jog My Memory (Jody O Toole-Is It Memorex) finished second by a neck under jockey Helen Vanek. Erik Lehtinen trains the 4-year-old gelding,
who most recently ran second in the Ontario Bred Maturity.
I See Candy Paint (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Eye On This Candy), a homebred for Carl Pevehouse, finished third, a week after winning the CanAm Nations Cup Stakes. The 4-year-old gelding’s regular rider, Tony Bennett, also piloted him in both Fort Erie races for trainer Clinton Crawford.
Completing the field were Poutnokey (Mezoomn-Poutnlori), A Plain Brown Rapper (A Regal Choice-Belles A Lady), All Wacked Out (Eyesa Special-Sexy Shania), Cat Vision (Real Visions-Felinity), Fast Flung Floyd (Heza Fast Man-Swells Belles), Had To Be Fandango (Hadtobenuts-Grim Fandango), and Make Out Artist (Make It Anywhere-This Chicks Stylish). Cameron Dash, Fleet Markum, Go Loca, and Streaking Eye Opener were scratched.

John Deere Fort erie Distance Bonus Challenge
JeSSwAtCHMe
by Tracy Gantz
Jesswatchme made two major switches in his career that led to his first stakes victory. He moved from Arizona to Canada, and then he stretched out to 870 yards. Both worked to his advantage when he captured the Oct. 13 John Deere Fort Erie Distance Bonus Challenge.
In his first start around the hook, Jesswatchme broke third under jockey
Todd Kabel. He vied with Special Ela for second behind paceset-
ting First Down Planetary. Jesswatchme cornered a
little wide around the turn, but in the stretch he easily passed First Down Planetary. He continued to widen his advantage and drew off for a 3 3/4-length win in :46.940.
Matt Fales bred Jesswatchme in Arizona, and Fales also owned and trained him at 2 and 3 in 2010 and 2011. Racing in Arizona,
California, and Colorado, Jesswatchme won three races. Ralph and Carrie Fales consigned Jesswatchme to the 2012 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, where Ralph Pearson of Canada bought him for $8,000.
Jesswatchme began racing in Canada this year for Greg and Susan Watson’s Full Circle Racing. Greg Watson trains the 4-year-old geld- ing. Prior to attempting 870 yards, Jesswatchme
won once and finished second twice in seven starts.
Watching The Rain, the dam of Jesswatchme, won the 2002 AQRA Lassie Stakes. Matt Fales campaigned the mare, who has produced four winners from five starters. Those foals include Block N Tackle, winner of the 2011 Desert Classic Futurity,
2011 AQRA Turf Paradise Futurity, and 2012 Rocky Mountain Derby, and Party
Crashin, who finished second in the 2007 Desert Classic Futurity-RG3 and 2008 Desert Classic Derby and third in the 2007 Four Corners Futurity. Watchin The Rain is a half- sister to stakes-placed Casanova Corona.
Im A Grand Believer (A Hundred Grand- Ragdoll Annie-TB) closed for second under jockey Marty Mercieca. Diane Fryer bred, owns, and trains the 4-year-old gelding, who has won two races.
Danielle DiBert piloted First Down Planetary (Planetary-Hannas Rare Bar) to third for owner Dylan Todd and trainer Alan Todd. An 8-year-old gelding, First Down Planetary has started 58 times, with six wins, including a match race at Mt. Pleasant in 2008.
Mega Fames (Megas Vukefalos-TB-Fames Touch) finished fourth, followed by Special Ela (Special Leader-Ocean Memories).
