Paul Harber P&A Mem.-G2
RP RECKLESS WIRE

ee Keener, Paint racing’s all-time winningest
trainer, surprisingly had never won the $24,300 Paul Harber Memorial. He changed that on April 14, sending out RP Reckless Wire for an authoritative victory in G2 event at Remington Park on April 14.
Ridden by Cody Wainscott, RP Reckless Wire scurried to the front soon after the start of the 350-yard test for Paints and Appaloosas. She sailed past the early leader Lajolla Turnpike to open a 1/2-length advantage in the lane and hustled clear of that rival in the late stages to score by 1-length at the finish. Race favorite Queen For Cash finished fourth. In winning her second straight stakes event, RP Reckless Wire stopped the timer in :17.9871 and earned a speed index of 83.
Owned by Jeff Adams, RP Reckless Wire gave her conditioner his first win in the stakes race.
With the victory, RP Reckless Wire improved her lifetime record to 19-7-5-5, and the $14,784 winner’s share of the purse increased her bankroll to $150,774. Bred in Oklahoma by Roy Kent Perkins, the bay filly is produced from the Reckless Dash mare RP Miss Reckless Dash.
Runner-up Lajolla Turnpike (Painted Turnpike- Linda Lajolla) flashed early speed and held second under jockey Francisco Calderon. The 4-year-old sorrel gelding is owned by Michael Moss and trained by Matt Whitekiller.
Paint Em A Vision (Second Painted Sign-Emmas Vision) and jockey Andrew Samaniego finished third, missing the place spot by just a neck, at odds of 53-1 for owner Gary Vaughan and trainer Michael Moss.
Queen For Cash (Hes Relentless-Ivory Queen), Secret Livewire (CRM Livewire-Moonlight Who), WF High Gear (High Rate Of Return-Biker Chick), Wired To Win (CRM Livewire-Mt De Boss), Cowgirl Cartel (Dash Master Jess-Camo Cowgirl), and Mammy Jammer (CRM Livewire-Dashin DD) completed the order of finish.
Easy Date Stakes-G3
SASSALITICAL
Sby Michael Compton
assalitical made it consecutive graded stakes win
to start her 2023 campaign with a determined score in the 350-yard $77,320 Easy Date Stakes-G3 at Remington Park on April 22.
Ridden by jockey Jorge Torres, Sassalitical raced in fourth position early in the contest. With a strong late surge, the 4-year-old brown filly collared the leaders close to home to prevail by a nose at the finish. In winning her second straight Graded stakes event after a win in the Decketta Stakes-G2 in her previous start in March, Sassalitical stopped the timer in :17.520 and earned a speed index of 94.
Owned by Tyler & Naia Graham and trained by Clinton Crawford, Sassalitical improved her record
to 15-5-5-1, and the $44,784 winner’s share increased her bankroll to $253,367. Bred in Utah by Speed
LLC, Sassalitical is out of Jess Sass Me, and she was a $70,000 acquisition by her owners at the 2020 Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Sassalitical is a sister to AQHA Champions Jess Walking Thru and Sass Me Blue.
Jess Give Mea Reason (Good Reason SA-Send Me This Wagon) and jockey Cristian Esqueda showed the way in the lane and just missed by a nose for owner and trainer Stacy Charette-Hill. Bred in Oklahoma by Michael Pohl, Jess Give Mea Reason captured the Altoona Derby at Prairie Meadows last year at three.
Race favorite Pops First Lady (Apollitical Jess- Shazooms Pop Pop), with jockey Bryan Candanosa aloft, finished third, just a nose behind the runner-up. The 5-year-old sorrel mare is owned by Ruse Ranch LLC and is trained by Robi Meche.
Im a Fancee Chik (Im a Fancy PYC-Dixie Marrone TB), Fabulous Rachel (One Fabulous Eagle-Teller Baja), Suzy De Capi (Capo De Capi-Shaken Pappasito), Candy Going Grand (FDD Going Grand-Jess Send Me Candy), Kiss The Cartel (Kiss My Hocks-A Snowy Cartel), and Surprise Surprise (Corona Cartel-VF Red Surprise) completed the order of finish. Glamazon was scratched.
Laico Bird Stakes-RG3
VINTAGE CANDY
Vby John Moorehouse
intage Candy remains in fine form. The rookie
filly remained undefeated on the track, scoring her third win in as many starts on April 22 at Remington Park in the $68,000 Laico Bird Stakes-RG3.
The post-time favorite at less than 2-1 odds, Vintage Candy led at every call of this 330-yard race. The bay filly broke on top from the No. 2 gate, led by a head at the first call and going into the stretch, then held on to win by a neck.
Troy Carter saddled Vintage Candy for her stakes-winning run, completed in :16.899 for an 87 speed index. James Flores, a three-time AQHA Champion Jockey, had the riding assignment.
Raul Del Fierro Licon owns Vintage Candy, purchasing her for $13,000 in last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale. That proved to be a wise investment; this win collected a $39,600 payday that improved the filly’s lifetime bankroll to $59,301. This marked her stakes debut; Vintage Candy broke her maiden March 9 at Remington, then came back and won her trial for the Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity but did not qualify for the stakes final.
Stephan & Lisa Ralston bred Vintage Candy and own her dam, Turnin Back Time, a 2016 winning mare.
KVN Is Sweet (KVN Corona-Perry Sweetheart) finished a game second for the Edward B. Melzer Revocable Trust. Eddie D. Willis is the trainer and Jimmy Brooks was in the irons. RJ Having Fun (PYC Fun N Fancy-Snow Clouds) hit the board in third for owners Josefina Guzman and Corinna Sosa. Waylan Melton is the trainer and Juan Pulido drew the riding assignment.
The remaining order of finish was Tootsye Pop (Jess Good Candy-This Candy Says Bye), Mrs Apollitical Diva (Apollitical Spirit-Get Down Jessie), Miss Lethal Hero (Valiant Hero-Lethal Perry) and Charlenas FDD (FDD Dynasty-Jess Charlena). Its A Cakes Walk, My Valentine Chic and Three Separate Sixes were scratched.
