vory Senator snagged his first stakes win in the
$68,000 Mr Master Bug Stakes-RG3 at Remington Park on April 22.
Ridden by Juan Pulido, the gelding broke in fifth and dueled throughout the 350 yards with Eye On The Card. Ivory Senator proved best as he crossed the finish line a head in front. He stopped the timer in :17.355, while posting a 98 speed index.
Trained by Juan Diaz Jr., Ivory Senator secured the $39,600 winner’s share of the purse for owner/ breeder Louis A. Trey Malechek III, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $113,634.
Racing exclusively in Oklahoma, Ivory Senator
has won or placed in five of his eight starts and is undefeated thus far in 2023 with two wins. In 2022, the gelding placed second in the Laico Bird Stakes-RG3 and was a finalist in the Heritage Place Futurity-G1.
Malechek bred Ivory Senator out of multiple winner Ivory Teaspoon, who was third in the 2016 Belles Stakes. She has produced 100% money earners from 4 starters. Ivory Senator is her first stakes winner.
Eye On The Card (Docs Best Card-Johns Party Girl) and jockey Francisco Calderon were outdueled and had to settle for second for owners Omar Hernandez & Taos River Ranch LLC and trainer Monty Arrossa. The colt won last year’s Rainbow Futurity-G1 and FL Lady Bug Stakes-G3.
Ridden by Cristian Esqueda, A Legacy Of Tales (Wagon Tales-Legacys A Streakin) finished in third for owner Donald J. Friesen and trainer Stacy Charette-Hill. The gelding won last year’s Valley Junction Futurity-G1.
Tyger King (Apollitical Jess-Cruzin The Wagon), Race Queenie (Kiss My Hocks-Race Princess),
Mr James Ivory (Ivory James-Your Cash Treat)
and Relentless Scorpion (Hes Relentless-Pollitical Scorpion) completed the order of finish.

econd in the 2022 La Fiesta Derby at
Albuquerque, Alamo Lake became a stakes winner at SunRay Park in the April 14 La Plata Stakes.
Ridden by Jacob Enriquez and sent away the 13-1 sixth choice, Alamo Lake broke on top and led throughout the 400-yards. He defeated favored Valiant Charm by 1-length, stopping the timer in :19.280, good for a 109 speed index.
Armando Alamos trains Alamo Lake for LG Racing LLC. In addition to his La Fiesta Derby placing, Alamo Lake ran fourth in the 2022 Zia Park Championship-G1.
Dr. Steve Burns bred Alamo Lake in California and consigned him to the 2020 Los Alamitos Equine Sale via his Burns Ranch. Mario Perea and Luis Gonzalez purchased Alamo Lake for $41,000.
Alamo Lake is out of the Burns homebred graded stakes-placed mare No Arizona. The second dam is multiple graded stakes-placed Miss Kittys Bar Bet. No Arizona has produced seven winners from eight starters, including stakes winner Lake Havasu.
Juan Esquivel owns and trains second-place Valiant Charm (Valiant Hero-Charmin Chief Corona). Emilio Tapia rode the 4-year-old gelding, who most recently ran second in the West Texas Maturity-G3.
Artillero (A Revenant-Ima Tempting Dash) ran third for jockey Omar Iturralde, trainer Osman Iturralde, and owner Raul Saucedo. The 3-year-old gelding had won his last three races.
Mias Irish Dynasty (Jr Dynasty Mountain-Mias Runnin) and High Flying Hero (Valiant Hero-Jess
A Classy Lassy) finished fourth and fifth. Bregman (FDD Dynasty-Astica) and Eyesa Forrest (High Rate Of Return-Eyesa Darlin) dead-heated for sixth, and were followed by A Separate Star (Separatist-Stars Falling), Dr Tool (Kiss My Hocks-Where Eagles Soar), and Jessapolliticalgirl (Apollitical Jess- Kirklyns Dynasty).
West Texas Juvenile Invitational

udging by his first pair of races, Irish Seis does
just enough to get to the finish line first. After winning his March 11 trial heat for the West Texas Futurity by a head, the gelded son of Tres Seis returned to narrowly win the $50,000 West Texas Juvenile Invitational, for non-qualifiers for the finals of the Futurity, on April 1 at Sunland Park.
Ridden by Luis Martinez, who was also aboard for the trial win, Irish Seis broke near the back of
the pack in seventh position away from the starting gate for the 300-yard West Texas Juvenile. He forged to the front in the lane and defeated Eagles Diva by a neck at the finish, stopping the timer in :15.381, good for a speed index of 91.
Now perfect in two starts, Irish Seis has earned $29,090 for owner CHR Racing and trainer Jesus Rondan Jr. Bred in Oklahoma by Bollenbach Farms, Irish Seis was sold for $40,000 at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. He is produced from the Walk Thru Fire mare Sassy Irish Lassie, who is a sister to AQHA Dam of Distinction Jess Sass Me, the dam of Champions Jess Walking Thru and Sass Me Blue.
Rondan also saddled the runner-up for CHR Racing, Eagles Diva (This Is an Eagle-Coronas Hot Girl). Ridden by Sergio Dominguez, Eagles Diva finished third in her trial heat and the sorrel filly was bred in Texas by Juan Carlos Ramos.
CC Uptown Eagle (Tres Seis-CC Kachina Eagle) and jockey Adrian Ramos finished third in
a determined effort for owners Melvin and Susan Neugebauer and trainer Wesley Giles.
Kuira (Czar Cartel MV-First Place Cartel), Chick Tempter (Tempting Dash-LJ Moonrise), One Requested Eagle (One Fabulous Eagle-Requested Fire), Saidi (Czar Cartel MV-The Black Ghost), Tres of Blood (Apollitical Blood-Tres Seis Game Chick), and Remi Jade (Foose-Dahlia) completed the order of finish. Stone Kold was scratched.
