Now a winner of three straight races to begin her career, Btrain won her first out, which was a trial heat for the Mardi Gras Futurity by a neck at Louisiana Downs in March, but did not qualify.
In her next out, she scored a 1-length victory by winning her May 4 trial heat for the Louisiana Bred Lassie Futurity.
Owned by Cecilia Mucio and trained by Inez Delacruz, unbeaten Btrain is now an earner of $164,947.
Btrain was bred in Louisiana by Tye Smith. The filly is out of the Lock To Load mare Bang Bang Bang. She is a five-time winner and a stakes-placed earner
of $83,232. She finished second in the 2012 Mother’s Day Stakes and was a finalist
in the 2010 Louisiana Champions Day
Juvenile-RG2. She has produced three winners from six starters and Btrain is her first stakes winner.
Btrain was purchased for $27,000 at the 2021 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Yearling Sale.
San Lorenzo Moon (Apollitical Blood- Dashnunder Afullmoon) and jockey David Alvarez steadily gained ground in the lane to finish second as the 2-1 race favorite. The brown filly, who captured her trial heat by a nose, was the fifth-fastest qualifier. The brown filly is owned by Rogelio Marquez and is trained by Jesus Marquez. San Lorenzo Moon fell just short of duplicating the feat of her dam, four-time stakes winner Dashnunder Afullmoon, who won the Lassie Futurity-RG2 in 2017.
Cool Ya Jets (Jet Black Patriot-McM On Thin Ice) crossed the wire in third but was disqualified for drifting in and causing
interference in mid-stretch and was placed last. The disqualification elevated Mamaigotthis (Jet Black Patriot-Duachais) to third. Ridden by Modesto Pina, Mamaigotthis is owned
by Three Muskoteers and trained by Wendy Garcia. The bay filly was bred in Louisiana
by Lester Colomb Jr. out of Races And aces Stakes third place finisher MCM On Thin Ice. Mamaigotthis finished third in her May 5 trial heat and previously won a trial to the Mardi Gras Futurity.
Mazzikeen (The Louisiana Cartel-Sixarun Bug) followed in fourth place and Amadeo Perry (Apollitical Blood-Dee Dee Perry), Jeg Fascination (Freighttrain B-Ja Fascination), Eagle Watchn (One Dashing Eagle-Won
To Watch), Sweet London Rose (One Sweet Jess-Kdwantsafastone), Cos Mamma Said (Tee Cos-Mamma Jamma Jamma) and Cool Ya Jets completed the order of finish.
Btrain’s winning connections include owner Cecilia Mucio, trainer Inez Delacruz, and jockey J. R. Ramirez.
