disqualification following a stewards’ inquiry
helped Spotty Politics score his first career stakes win in the 870-yard $17,225 Expo Square Stakes at Fair Meadows at Tulsa on June 18.
Bubba Bad, the 1-5 favorite in the field of five, crossed the wire first, a neck in front of Spotty Politics. However, the 6-year-old gelding was disqualified from first and placed second for drifting out in the stretch and bumping and forcing Spotty Politics out.
Ridden by Travis Cunningham for owner and trainer Matthew Eck, Spotty Politics was clocked in at :45.418, earning a speed index of 102. The 4-year-
old gelded son of 2015 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Apollitical Blood earned the $10,500 winner’s share of a $17,225 purse, boosting his current bankroll to $81,301.
Spotty Politics was bred in Oklahoma by Andy Knight, and he was purchased by Eck for $21,000 at the 2019 Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. The gelding is the first foal produced by Sunspot Babie, an unraced daughter of the Favorite Trick TB stallion Favorite Cartel. His second
dam, the winning Dash For Cash mare Stardust Dash, produced four stakes winners, including 2005 Champion Distance Horse Prankster CF and multiple 870 graded stakes winner Tricky Dust.
Bubba Bad (Second Painted Sign-Dashin Di) was placed second after the disqualification. Roman Cruz rode the homebred 6-year-old gelding for owner/trainer Ray Enlow.
Petes Favorite (Pete’s Wonder-Jiggle It Around) ran third under Josh Romero for owners Cathy Kile and Kirby Kile, who also trained the homebred 10-year-old gelding.
Ina Painted Groove (Second Painted Sign- Inacleangroove) and SW Gunslinger (Second Painted Sign-Smoking Kay) completed the order of finish. We Call Him Joneson was scratched.

$17,500 Belles Stakes at Fair Meadows on June 25. Ridden by Cody Wainscott, the gray filly fired
from the 5-post and her lead was never contested
as she crossed the wire a neck in front. She sprinted through the 350 yards in :17.636, while posting a 98 speed index.
Racing for trainer/breeder Ray Enlow, the filly collected the $10,338 winner’s share of the purse for owners Shania Cox and Terry Dale, which pushed her total lifetime earnings to $59,366. She has now won six of her 16 starts, which includes a victory in last year’s Miss Ellen Stakes at Will Rogers Downs.

Ridden by Roman Cruz, Dox Notta Fox (Wagon Tales-Dox Strawflyin Annie) made a hard charge
to the wire to finish third. She is owned by Ismael Quijada and trained by Cosme Quijada. The filly was coming off of another third place finish in the Golden Driller Stakes earlier this month.
