PAINTED TURNPIKE

Painted Turnpike flew to his 14th stakes victory in the $22,150 Paul Harber Memorial Stakes, held at Remington Park on April 13.
After a bumpy start, the 2013 horse was leading
by 1-length by the first call. Painted Turnpike and jockey Cody Smith stayed in front by daylight, reaching the wire with a 1 1/4-length margin of victory. Matt Whitekiller trains Painted Turnpike, who covered the 350 yards in :17.346, recording a 95 speed index.
This victory marked Painted Turnpike’s 11th career win at Remington Park—the most ever total triumphs at the Oklahoma City track by a Quarter Horse, Paint or Appaloosa. The $12,450 winner’s share of the purse upped his earnings to $390,362.
Nolan Pevehouse home-bred Painted Turnpike out of stakes placed High Class Turnpike. She has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including additional Champion Gitter Dun Turnpike. Three-time World Champion/6-time Champion Painted Turnpike is the top earner of the brood, as well as the all-time leading APHA money earner.

Ima Real Livewire rallied to her first stakes victory in the $22,500 Victoria Ennis Memorial for Paints and Appaloosas at Remington Park on April 28.
Michelle Hurdle trains Ima Real Livewire, who broke well from the 6-post in second behind Admiral Tom. Once up to full speed, Ima Real Livewire caught Admiral Tom and led by a head at the first call and widened his advantage at each remaining juncture. The lead increased to 1/2-length by the time he reached the stretch, and he went on to open a 1-length separation as he reached the finish line.
Jose Vega was aboard for the 330-yard trip, which took :16.851 and registered a career-high 89 speed index.
The $13,050 winner’s share of the purse improved the gelding’s total earnings to $24,142.
Carole Vann Stacy home-bred the two-year-old gelding, who has been to the winner’s circle two times in the first three outs of his career.
Ima Real Livewire is the first starter out of his dam, Ima Stormy Valentine, a lightly-raced 2012 mare whom Stacy also owns.
Admiral Tom ApHC (Red Storm Cat-Eyesa Knockout QH) was the pre-race favorite at less than even-money odds, but settled for second place under Ricky Ramirez for owner Gary Vaughan and trainer Luis Villafranco.
Under Daniel Torres, Son Of A Grip APHA (Iteska Boy-Girls Got Grip) took third for owner TCB Speed Horses and trainer Luz Chavira.
DTL Harley Quinn APHA (Coronas Leaving You QH-Eysa Savvy Queen), La Chica Bella APHA (Royal Quick Flash-Tinker Bella), Get Down Country APHA (SM Country Snowman-Savonas Beauty), Shellie My Rose APHA (Cartels Candy Man QH-Sheza Flashy Treasure) and Georgeous Treasure APHA (Man On The Street TB-Hard Luck Lahija) completed the order of finish.

FLYING EAGLE 07

Flying Eagle 07 scored his first stakes victory in the $50,000 West Texas Juvenile at Sunland Park on April 14.
Favored Pappas Lookin was squeezed at the start, losing all chance. Flying Eagle 07, ridden by Manuel Gutierrez, broke in fourth, moved up early and then rocketed to the front in the final 100 yards. He
won by 1/2-length and completed the 300 yards in :15.167, posting a career-high 95 speed index.
Flying Eagle 07 began his career at Sunland Park, running sixth in a maiden race before captur- ing his trial to this event. The colt brought home the $30,000 winner’s share of the purse for owner Jack Manning and trainer John Cooper, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $35,680.
Quest Inc./Entrust/FBO Tiffin bred Flying Eagle 07 out of 2001 Champion Tiny First Effort, winner of Southern California Derby-G1, California Derby Challenge-G3 and Vandy’s Flash Handicap-G3.
The mare has produced 23 winners from 32 start- ers, including additional stakes winners Eye Agree, Genovese and top money earner Eagles Span.
Jose Enriquez piloted Arizona Chrome (FDD Dynasty-One Flying Cookie) to second for owner Maria De Los Angeles Ramirez and trainer Jose Muela.
Ridden by Jose Enrique-Ortiz, Chicks A Moneymaker (Separatist-Rime Has A Chick) fin- ished third for owner by Daniel Ramirez and trainer Salvador Soto.
