FLYING FAMOUS EAGLE

Flying Famous Eagle flew to victory in the Grade 2 Hobbs America Futurity at Zia Park on Oct. 13.
It takes nerves of steel to be a head in front and never use your whip. That’s exactly what Jaime Leos did. He sat quiet as a shadow.
The race was the Hobbs America Futurity-G2, a 400-yard contest that carried a purse worth $229,160.
Flying Famous Eagle and Leos broke on top from the number six post and started digging in. The pair briefly dropped to third at the first call and then moved into second at the top of the stretch.
The race was in question until the final strides, as the top three runners were just a head apart from each other.
Flying Famous Eagle, a gelded son of One Famous Eagle, rallied in time to get a head victory. He stopped the timer in :19.734 to earn a 93 speed index. He also earned first place money worth $109,997. That deposit ups his total earnings to $111,937.
The Hobbs America Futurity win is his first from five tries. Flying Famous Eagle previously ran back in a maiden attempt at Remington Park in May and then in the trials to both the Ruidoso Futurity and Rainbow Futurity. He ran second in his Sept. 21 trial heat and then broke his maiden in this event.
His connections include
owner Sergio Hermosillo and trainer Mario Fernandez.
Flying Famous Eagle was bred in Texas by Johnny Trotter out of two-time winner and Grade 3 finalist This Dreams Flying. The mare has produced 13 runners. 2014 Champion Three- Year-Old Colt Hes Relentless is her best product.
Sacred Nation (Favorite Cartel-Tahma Hawk) dueled for the lead all the way and
settled for second place. His team includes owner Ralph Link Newcomb and trainer Todd Fincher. Ricky Ramirez was in the irons.
The photo showed Mi Apollitical Jess (Apollitical Jess-Mi Pequena Amor) was in third place. He is owned by Marty Neugebauer and trained by Wesley Giles. Alan Hernandez was in the saddle.
