AMERICA RULES
by John Moorehouse
After falling short in a pair of lucrative Grade 1 derbies earlier this year, America Rules bounced back and tallied her first victory in stakes company in the $18,450 Miss Ellen Stakes at Will Rogers Downs on Oct. 12.
America Rules qualified for two major races at Ruidoso Downs this summer: the All American and Rainbow Derbies, finishing tenth and eighth respec- tively. There was no catching the filly, however, in her latest stakes effort.
Trained by Gerald Reed, America Rules broke from the 6-gate and got stronger as the 350-yard race progressed, hitting the wire first by a nose. James Flores was aboard for the breakthrough victory, finish- ing the race in :17.750 and posting a 90 speed index. Coke L. Gage, Jr. owns America Rules, who reached the winner’s circle for the third time in 10 career starts. The $10,692 first-place prize improved her total bankroll to the threshold of six figures at $96,620.
Marla K. Robinson Family Trust bred America Rules out of multiple graded stakes finalist Allamericandreamgirl. America Rules’ half-brother, the late American Runaway, was a two-time Champion in 2010.
Double Eagle (One Dashing Eagle-A Southern Gal) and Tempting Annee GL (Tempting Dash- Grande Annee) were part of a blanket finish that encompassed the top three. Regina Laymon owns second placed Double Eagle, who is trained by Kenny Laymon and had Daniel Torres aboard. Third placed Tempting Annee GL is owned by the Garza Laurel Partnership LLC. R.L. Robinson trains the filly, who had Mario Delgado up. Followed
by Eye Eye Captain (Captain Courage-Eye My Alexis), Royal Desirio (Desirio-Designed Royal), Olena Sangria (Dashair-Mt Rob This Corona) and Mystical Jess (Apollitical Jess-Traffic Juana). Mary Janes Hero scratched.

Raced in Washington and Oregon, Loosin My Lover has won two of his 14 starts, with his only other victory being the 2018 Baxter Andruss Oregon Bred Futurity at Portland Meadows.
David McBride bred Loosin My Lover out of lightly raced Lover Cat. She has produced 100% winners from three starters, including top earner Lil Touch Of Dixie, who won the Prineville Quarter Horse Futurity as well as the Baxter Andruss Oregon Bred Futurity. Loosin My Lover is her second stakes winner.
Owner Jorge Carmona and trainer Danny Montes saddled both second and third place finish- ers.
