Mister FDD charged to his first-ever stakes win, outdueling Bolt For Gold to win the $25,000 Corona Chick Handicap at Los Alamitos
on Nov. 16.
Lin Melton trains Mister FDD, who broke on
top from the inside gate and kept a narrow lead for the entirety of the 400 yards. The gelding led by a nose at the first call, a head going into the stretch, and withstood the challenge from Bolt For Gold to win the race by a neck.
Cesar Franco was aboard for the stakes-winning trip, completed in :20.052 to register an 85 speed index. It marked the first Quarter Horse stakes win in the career of Franco.
The victory marked the 4th win in eight career starts, and second trip to the winner’s circle in three outs at Los Alamitos for Mister FDD. His record at the California course included a third-place effort in the Wild West Futurity in late October.
Home-bred by Tony Greaves, the gelding col- lected a $13,750 payday that pushed his total earn- ings to $44,995.
Greaves bred Mister FDD out of Northwest Hi-Point Aged Mare Feature Miss Alibi, winner of the 2013 Sun Downs Distaff Challenge. Mister FDD is her first starter from two foals.
Bolt For Gold (Favorite Cartel-Sheza Hot Catch) finished a close second for Mesa Valley Farms, LLC. The Mark Skeen trainee had Erasmo Gasca in the irons.
Mommas Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Bye Sweet Girl) finished third under Jose Nicasio for owners Edward & Von Zae McNelis and trainer Monty Arrossa.
BF Farmhand (Stel Corona-Spring Bling), Arizona Favorite (Favorite Cartel-Check Her For Cash) and Cupids Affair (Stel Corona-Cupids Special Fly) completed the order of finish. Tac Me Up scratched.

Katies Easy Moves has now won the $35,000 First Down Dash Handicap twice at Los Alamitos. After taking it in 2017, he returned for a repeat
performance on Dec. 8.
Favored at 2-5, Katies Easy Moves quickly
zoomed to the front under jockey Eduardo Nicasio. He battled with Royaltys Authority throughout most of the 400 yards and was up for a neck victory in :19.716, posting a 94 speed index. Monty Arrossa trains Katies Easy Moves for owners Caballo Rapido LLC and Five Livestock Company LLC.
In addition to his two First Down Dash victories, Katies Easy Moves also won the 2015 Bitterroot Juvenile Consolation and 2016 Western States Breeders Derby. The gelding has a race record of 30-14(4)-4(3)-5(3) and the $19,250 winner’s share pushed his bankroll to $193,763.
“Our goal was to get into the Champion of Champions,” said Curtis Earll of Caballo Rapido LLC. “It didn’t work out, but there’s always next year.”
Walter Finder bred Katies Easy Moves out of lightly raced Katie Lane Finder. She has produced 100% money earners from seven starters, includ- ing Los Alamitos Winter Derby-G1 finalist Moven Lannie. Katies Easy Moves, who set two New Track Records at 350 & 330 yards, is her first stakes win- ner and top earner.
Royaltys Authority (Royaltys Choice-Trick And Fun TB) & jockey Ruben Lozano were second for owner S & S Horses and trainer Roman Figueroa. Jesus Ayala & Firing Tools (Walk Thru Fire-No Tools Required) were third for owner Armando Romero and trainer Jose Flores.
Completing the field were Well Good (Kiddy Up-How Good), Corona Jumpim Mrl (Corona For Me-Ipanema Gold), Chicks Fayvorite (Favorite Cartel-Chicks Tell) and Joe Legacy (Brookstone Bay-A Diamond Legacy).

Only a neck has kept Seaduction from being undefeated. After that narrow loss in her rac- ing debut at Los Alamitos, Seaduction won her trial
for Los Alamitos’ Golden State Million Futurity-G1, but didn’t clock a fast enough time to get into the final. Instead, she captured the $30,000 Golden State Juvenile on Nov. 4.
Regular rider Jose Nicasio piloted Seaduction
in the 400-yard Juvenile. They got away from the gate in good order from the 2-post, avoiding some bumping to their outside. Seaduction grabbed the lead quickly, at one point extending her advantage to 1-length. She held off the late charge of Jess Motions to win by a neck in :19.975, posting a career-best 87 speed index.
Monty Arrossa trains Seaduction for owner Matthew Alan Dunn. Lucas Racing Inc. bred the filly in Maryland from 2-time winner Tres Sea. Seaduction is the mare’s first winner from two starters. Her second dam is Broodmare of the Year Runaway Wave, the stakes-placed dam of World Champion Wave Carver, Champion Ocean Runaway, and Grade 1 winners Wave Her Down and Trisk.
Janet McKinnerney’s homebred Jess Motions (Apollitical Jess-Royal Motions) finished second under jockey Cruz Mendez for trainer Jose Flores.
Erasmo Gasca rode Senator Cash (Louisiana Senator-Ms Carter Cash) to third for owner Dale Winterton and trainer Christopher O’Dell.
Jimbosecret (No Secrets Here-Rare Encore) finished fourth, but was disqualified to seventh for interference, moving Fast Amanda Rose (Fast Prize Cartel-Eyesontheprice) into fourth, Jess Curlin (One Sweet Jess-Fire In The Curl) into fifth, and Tamura (Kiddy Up-Fortheloveofyou) into sixth. Sage Franklin (Corona Cartel-Fate Cant Weight) finished eighth. BF Farmhand was scratched.
