DASHNUNDERAFULLMOON

Full moon or not, it’s evident that Dashnunder Afullmoon can flat out run. The precocious filly made the most of her juvenile season, winning five of
six outs, including the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile-RG2 at Fair Grounds on Dec. 9.
With regular rider Eddie Sanchez aboard,
Dashnunder Afullmoon quickly established a 1-length lead by the first call and held that advantage to the wire, stopping the timer in :17.468. The powerful effort earned her a 96 speed index. Owned by Rogelio Marquez and trained by Saul Ramirez Jr., Dashnunder Afullmoon improved her mark to 6-5(3)-0-1 and the $45,000 winner’s share padded her coffers to $572,859.
Dashunder Afullmoon also annexed victories
in the Lee Berwick Memorial Futurity-RG1 and
the LQHBA Lassie Futurity-RG2. Her only defeat came in the Louisiana Million Futurity trials in Nov. where she finished 3rd.
Bred in Louisiana by D&S Racing, the brown filly is out of stakes-winner Full Moon Dasher.
She has produced 100% earners from five starters, including stakes placed Jen And Vodka. Dashnunder Afullmoon is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Second Down Leaving (Coronas Leaving You- Second Down Perry) was 2nd under Raul Ramirez Jr. for owners Eulailo Argote & Victor Alvarado and trainer Javier Contreras. JLS Dash N Fire (Heza Fast Dash-Psalmist) and jockey David Alvarez were 3rd for owner T M Ranch and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr.

STRONG GUNS

Strong Guns fired a big shot in the $99,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic-RG2 at Fair Grounds on Dec. 9, winning the 440-yard test in a powerful effort.
Ridden by Damian Martinez, Strong Guns broke sharply and grabbed the early lead. He maintained
a clear advantage through the lane and posted a 1 1⁄4-length tally over Jes A Fast Dasher to score in a lively :21.557, earning a speed index of 103 over a track surface listed as good.
This was the first stakes victory for Strong Guns and the win improved his lifetime record to 30-8(1)- 6(2)-4(1) and increased his earnings to $181,225 with the addition of the $45,000 winner’s share. Beside this stakes win, he also finished 2nd in the 2015 Louisiana Champions Day Derby-RG3, 2nd in the 2016 Delta 550 Stakes-RG3, and 3rd in the 2017 Opelousas Stakes-RG2, along with finishing as a finalist in several other graded stakes events.
Bred in Louisiana by V W Racing, Strong Guns is owned by Carlos Acuna and trained by Robert Meche. The 5-year-old gelding is the lone stakes winner produced from winner Gunslinger Girl.
Jes A Fast Dasher (Heza Fast Dash-Jes A Game) bumped at the start and offered game chase to finish 2nd under David Alvarez for owner Tony Doughtie and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr. Super Sonic Patriot (Jet Black Patriot-Totally Selfish TB) and jockey Mario Trujillo finished 3rd for owner Richard Mendoza and trainer Eliseo Celestino.

SHATTO STOLI

Shatto Stoli concluded his 3-year-old season the same way he started it: with a stakes victory. In his seasonal debut, the sorel gelding captured the Billy Montgomery Stakes at Louisiana Downs in January. Fast forward to December, and he closed out the year with a game win in the Louisiana Champions Day DerbyR-G3 at Fair Grounds on Dec. 9.
With Raul Ramirez Jr. aboard, Shatto Stoli broke tardy but moved into 3rd position early. He wrestled the lead away from dueling leaders Di Maria and Coronaoro in the lane and held the latter at bay in a driving finish to win by a nose. Shatto Stoli stopped the timer for 400 yards in :19.942 and earned a speed index of 98 for trainer Rosendo Valdez Jr.
A stakes winner the previous year at two in the LQHBA Invitational, Shatto Stoli improved his mark to 19-6(3)-3-1 and boosted his bankroll to $134,293 with the addition of this $45,000 winner’s share for owner Rosendo Valdez.
Bred in Louisiana by Juan San Miguel Jr., Shatto Stoli is out winner Scoopie Coochie, who finished 5th in the 2001 AQHA East Juvenile Challenge-G3.
Coronaoro (Coronas Leaving You-Orotoast) just missed winning back-to-back races, finishing 2nd under Jose Rodriguez for owner Pedro D. Barron and trainer Carlos Saldivar. Di Maria (Tee Cos-Tell Brenda) held 3rd under Everardo Rodriguez for Saldivar and owner Jose Barron.
