Madewell broke sharply and on the lead from his rail post to earn his first stakes vic- tory in the $55,920 Remington Park Distance
Championship-G2 on June 1.
Racing for Ray L. Madewell and Davy Madewell
of Ringling, Oklahoma, Madewell covered 870 yards in :44.984, and his winning margin was 1/2-length over Rock A Billy. James Flores, the lead- ing jockey during the 51-date Remington Park meet, rode the sorrel gelding for trainer Tammy Johnson.
“He broke awesome and was in front for most of the race,” said Flores. “When we got to the 660 pole, we were still in front, and at the quarter pole the oth- ers started coming to him, but he finished strong.”
Madewell was coming off of a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Ms Esther, in the $40,299 AQHA Remington Distance Challenge on May 12. A $20,000 claimer during the 2018 Remington Park meet, the gelding has won four of 19 races - including four of 18 at the 870 distance. The $34,638 winner’s share of the Remington Park Distance Championship-G2 bumped his bankroll to $103,749.
Stakes winner Rock A Billy (Rock Solid Jess- Imaginiff) finished second for owner Rockin J Running Horses. Randy Wilson rode the homebred 6-year-old gelding for trainer Tammy Johnson.
A two-time 870 stakes winner during the 2019 Remington meet, Ms Esther (Afrashad-Tres Down The Cash) was third under Andrew Samaniego
for owner Jordan Baumann, who also trained the 5-year-old mare.
Jess A Hilbily Bone (Rock Solid Jess-Imaginiff), Bout Tree Fiddy (Ivory James-Hollie Jollie), Blazen Panther (Panther Mountain-Blazen Madie), Flight Force (One Famous Eagle-Modice) and Rare Ed (Dean Miracle-Ms Corona Jet) completed the order of finish.

DTL Samureye made it seven wins in a row with his victory in the $34,450 National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum Paint & Appaloosa
Stakes-G1 at Remington Park on June 1.
The gelding broke well from the 4-post and was
in control every step of the way. Mid-race, jockey Jesse Levario knew they were 2-lengths in front so he just coasted to the wire. and they finished 1-length in front. They completed the 440 yards in :21.548, posting a 93 speed index.
Two-time 2018 Champion DTL Samureye brought home the $20,622 winner’s share of the purse for owner Almada Racing and trainer Josue Ponce, boosting his cumulative earnings to $133,199.
Raced in Oklahoma and Texas, DTL Samureye has now won seven stakes races from 16 starts, including the Mister Lewie Memorial Handicap-G1 and Paul Harber Memorial earlier this year as well as the 2017 Speedhorse Lone Star P&A Futurity-G1.
Dean & Tonya Lester bred DTL Samureye out of lightly raced Eysa Savvy Queen, who was a finalist in the Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Futurity-G2. She has produced 100% money earners from six starters. DTL Samureye is her first stakes winner.
Memories Of Lil Hero (Little PYC-Memories Of Texas) was 2nd under Cody Jensen for Levings Racing LLC & trainer R. L. Robinson. Live Moonshine (CRM Livewire-PRP Sedona Sunset) & Cody Smith were 3rd for Dan & Kaye Jones and trainer Matt Whitekiller. Followed by Bully Pulpit (CRM Livewire-Judys Apollo), Jess Cuz (Freighttrain B-Jess Streakin), RP Live Wire Dash (CRM Livewire-RP Miss Reckess Dash), PHQ Goodbye Earl (Awesome Chrome-Sayonara), Admiral Tom (Red Storm Cat-Eyesa Knockout), Ima Real Livewire (CRM Livewire-Ima Stormy Valentine), Fanci Flyin (Texas Six-Fanci And Special), El Diablo Chicken (SF Royal Quick Flash-Game Chicken) & General Cash (Decash-Ms Casholene).

EYE N CAPO

Ruben Garcia Montemayor’s Eye N Capo sprinted to a wire-to-wire 3/4-length victory in the $68,442 Bank of America Remington Park
Championship Challenge-G2 on May 12.
Ridden by Jesse Levario for trainer Josue Ponce
and aided by a reported 7-mph tail wind, Eye N Capo covered 440 yards in :21.145. In addition to posting a 104 speed index, the 5-year-old gelding earned the $31,483 winner’s share of the $68,442 purse and a berth in the $250,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship-G1 at Albuquerque Downs on Oct. 26.
Eye N Capo was bred by Dee and Betty Raper out of winner Satisfeyen. She has produced 100% winners from two starters. Eye N Capo is her first stakes winner.
The gelding was making his first start since Jan. 26, when he scored a wire-to-wire win in the 350- yard $50,000 Rio Grande Stakes at Sunland Park.
Raced in four states, including Louisiana and Texas, Eye N Capo has won 11 of 18 outs and has banked $527,393. In March, Eye N Capo’s owner paid $20,000 to enroll the gelding in the Challenge program.
Mi Amor Secreto (The Louisiana Cartel-Streakin In Secret) ran second for owner Kelly Perez. Jose Amador Alvarez rode the homebred gelding for trainer Marcos Carrizales.
Darling Farms’ DF AJ Green Leaves (Apollitical Jess-Three Green Leaves) finished third under Ricky Ramirez for trainer Clint Crawford.
