JESS TELLIN TALES
by John Moorehouse
For Jess Tellin Tales, the Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity turned out to be a one-sided story - in her favor. The filly posted her first career
win with a wire-to-wire run in the $20,050 stakes at Pocatello Downs on May 19.
There was no catching the Monty Arrossa trainee in her first stakes final.
Jess Tellin Tales broke on top from the two-gate and was never headed, winning by a 1/2-length margin. Joseph Belloc Jr. drew the riding assignment for the bay filly.
Owned by Cameron and Lean Mullrony, Jess Tellin Tales finished her 300-yard trip in :15.446, posting a 103 speed index and collecting an $8,000 payday in her second career out.
The two-year-old filly improved on her :15.787 effort May 5 in the futurity trials, in which she finished a clean trip 3/4-lengths behind winner and second-fastest qualifier Steffies Dashn Moves. Jess Tellin Tales ranked fourth on the qualifying ladder with her time.
Michael and Gail Ahern bred Jess Tellin Tales out of lightly raced Acting Up For Perry. Jess Tellin Tales is her first starter and was purchased by the Mulroneys for $3,500 at the September Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
Shidacious (Bodacious Dash-Shi D Anna) finished a steady second under Pedro Gonzalez despite breaking out. The gelding, who is owned by Kade Kendall Keller and trained by Fredy Olmos, improved greatly from his first start in the trials when he finished fourth in his heat for the eighth qualifying position.
Thrill Of The Cartel (Favorite Cartel-License To Thrill), the pre-race favorite as well as the fastest qualifier, finished third in the finals for Hanson Racing LLC, Robin Dunn and Kevin Dunn. The Mark Hanson trainee had Jesus Canales in the irons. In the trials, Thrill Of The Cartel went wire-to-wire for a 1 1/4-length victory for his first start.
Steffies Dashn Moves (Maknmoves- Steffiesclassic Dash) finished in fourth position and was followed by Sassy Sizzler (One Dashing Eagle-Sassy Corona), Shacks Desire (Saint Shackleton-Dee Zired), Liquid Courage B (FDD Dynasty-First Class Lacy B), Sheza Tacy Gator (Tac It Like A Man-Sheza Gator) and Hocks Fast Wagon (Kiss My Hocks-One Fast Wagon), who was bumped at the break and lost his chance. College Street scratched.

JESSTAFIABLY JESS
by John Moorehouse
Jesstafiably Jess picked a fine time to run the fast- est race of his career. A personal-best 102 speed index propelled the three-year-old gelding to his first career stakes victory in the $37,587 Adequan Sun Downs Derby Challenge on May 11.
Jesstafiably Jess qualified to this race by taking the third fastest spot. Starting from the outside gate in an eight-horse field in the finals, Jesstafiably
Jess broke tardy, but got stronger as the 400-yard race progressed. Running sixth at the first call, he was a close second going into the stretch. He then chased down betting favorite Singles Cruise to win by a neck. Benito Curiel is the trainer and Kassie Guglielmino was aboard for the trip, completed in :20.001. The victory produced a $17,290 payday to improve the gelding’s bankroll to $24,696.
Homebred by Malon Cowgill, Jesstafiably Jess reached the winner’s circle for the third time in eight starts. He also secured a spot in the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship-G3, a race set for Oct.
26 in Albuquerque as part of the Bank of America Challenge Championships. Cowgill also owns win- ner Fly Thru Time, the dam of Jesstafiably Jess.
Two former stakes winners also hit the board. Singles Cruise (Favorite Cartel-Going Single) finished second under Jake Samuels for owners Barry and Janice Sather. The Hector Magallanes trainee led the entirety of the race until she was caught at the wire. GC Harrys Game (Carters Cartel-EZ Gamer) and jockey Robert Burney placed third by another neck behind for owner Connie Chumbley and trainer Scott Raley. Followed by Loosin My Lover (Sixthirteen TB-Lover Cat), top qualifier Arizona Favorite (Favorite Cartel-Check Her For Cash), Summertime Hawk (Foose-Heather Hawking), Alabama Hills (Brookstone Bay-Tombstone Tina) and Farmboy Payday (Hawkinson-Shirleys Strawfly). Ivory Bac and KR Olive Oil both scratched.

by Danny Camp
Favorite Bling scored her second stakes victory in the $21,095 AQHA Sun Downs Distaff Challenge on May 12.

to pull away and crossed the wire an impressive 3-lengths in front. Favorite Bling completed the 400 yards in :20.106 to earn a 99 speed index.
The daughter of Favorite Cartel also earned first place money worth $10,986, boosting her total lifetime earnings to $52,961 with her race record standing at four wins from 17 races. Favorite Bling is owned by Juan R. Morales Garcia and trained by Jose A. Rosales Gomez.

She has produced 100% winners from three starters, including Cousin Wheelz, who was a finalist in the 2016 Jack Rhoden Memorial Stakes. Favorite Bling is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
AG Favorite Cartel (Favorite Cartel-Naughty No More) was second for owners Adrian and Atilano Gonzales. The Hector Magallanes trainee was rid- den by Jake Samuels. The gelding was a finalist in last year’s Portland Meadows Championship Bonus Challenge Stakes.
