YNOT WALK
by John Moorehouse
Ynot Walk hasn’t even completed his 2nd campaign of competition, but the gelding already has 5 stakes victories. Win No. 5 came on July 29 at Les Bois Park as he rolled to a 1/2-length win in the $42,030 Les Boi Derby Challenge. Owned by RTM Stables LLC and George Weldon, Ynot Walk improved his overall record to 7-3-2 in 14 starts. The gelding produced a $19,334 payday that increased his lifetime earnings to $159,890.
It’s been a good year for the gelding. Ynot Walk has 4 wins through his first 5 starts of 2015. The Adequan marks his 4th consecutive victory and con- tinued a fantastic run of the past 7 races in which he’s compiled a 6-1-0 record since Nov. of last year includ- ing a win in the 2014 Los Alamitos $2 Million Juv.
Ynot Walk won this race with relative ease, breaking on top from the 6-gate. He drifted out somewhat, but jockey Eddie Aceves kept him on course. Ynot Walk led by a 1/2-length by the first call and maintained that advantage both as he entered the stretch and reached the wire finishing the 400-yard race in :19.509 for a 99 speed index.
James Hanson trains Ynot Walk, the only stakes winner out Ynot Bar, a who was second in the 2005 Governor’s Cup Futurity-RG1. Ynot Bar has 13 offspring, and 11 of them have made starts.
Hanson also trains James First Affair (Ivory James-Fancys First Affair), 2nd under Tony Guymon for owners Robin Dunn, Larry Chapple and RTM Stables LLC. Getoutofthefastlane (Ivory James- Cruel Summer) was 3rd under Jose Figueroa for owner Bryon Goody & trainer Michael Monson. Followed by Steinway Ivory (Ivory James-Christie Jo Dash), Battle Scar (FDD Dynasty-Belle of Colleen), BH Lisas Boy (Mighty Invictus-Apollo Snowbound), Hotrod James (Jesse James Jr-Treat Her Lika Lady), Tsunami Kidd (Walk Thru Fire-Fly Thru Time), Heza Shocker (Coronas Fast Dash-Electric Sign) & Movin Assets (Inseperable-Movin Meter).

BETROTHEN
by Tracy Gantz
Trainer Jim Hanson will be well represented at the Challenge Championships at Lone Star Park this Nov. 7. Betrothen was among those he qualified at Les Bois Park on Aug. 8. The 4-year-old filly earned a berth in the Merial Distaff Challenge Championship-G1 by capturing the Merial Les Bois Distaff Challenge.
Betrothen took command of the field the instant the gate opened. With Eddie Aceves in the irons, she sped to a daylight lead, widening it throughout the 400 yards. At the wire, her margin was a length as she stopped the timer in :19.649.
Hanson trains Betrothen for his family’s RTM Stables LLC. His sons, Mark and Ryan, have also each trained the filly, who began her career at Los Alamitos. Betrothen has thrived in Idaho, where last year she finished third in the Les Bois Distaff Challenge as well as second in the Sandy Downs Distaff Challenge.
Ricky and Melinda Overly bred Betrothen in California from winner Flo Jo Lady. Each of the mare’s three starters has won, with El Chino Davalos also finishing second in the 2009 California Breeders’ 550 Sophomore Stakes. Flo Jo Lady is a 1/2-sister to three stakes winners. Betrothen’s third dam, Native Parr, produced two-time World Champion Refrigerator.
Hanson also trains 2nd-placed Shesanamerican Eagle (One Famous Eagle-Covenant Confirmer). Nakia Ramirez rode the Darian Burt homebred filly, who broke her maiden at Les Bois in June. Orvie Berg’s home- bred Cover Girl Two (First Moonflash-Chicks A Cover Girl) finished 3rd for jockey Jesus Virgen. The Tyler Gibbs trainee was coming off an allowance victory at Les Bois. Followed by One Prompt JJ (Jesse James Jr-One Prompt Chick), Zoomin Daphne (Azoom-La Reina De La Noche), Authentic Kate (Coronas Fast Dash-Special And Genuine), Cherry Vodka (Captain Courage-Cash Curve), Cybil (FDD Dynasty-Scrumptiously), She Pays Dividends (Mr Jess Berry-Diversifly) & Sumbuddys Knockin (Lose Yourself-Splash Sum).
Idaho Cup Futurity
FAMES JESS SWEET
by Tracy Gantz
Gary and Jeralyn Messenger developed Fames Jess Sweet from a long line of homebreds. They bred and raced the first three dams in the filly’s pedi- gree, and Gary trained the second and third dam. Their breeding program was rewarded when Fames Jess Sweet, trained by Monte Arossa, won the Aug. 7 Idaho Cup Futurity at Les Bois Park.
Fames Jess Sweet went into the futurity trials with a second, two thirds, and a fourth, but a couple of times she had encountered traffic trouble. She won her July 22 trial by a length as the second-fastest qualifier with Nikeela Black aboard, and Black rode her again in the finals. Fames Jess Sweet took the lead right out of the gate, again winning by a length. She stopped the clock in :17.767 for the 350 yards.
The Messengers bred Fames Jess Sweet in Idaho from Go For Fame, an earner of $122,933 who won 5 stakes, including the 2005 Northwest Championship Challenge-G2 & 2004 Northwest Derby Challenge-G3. The mare has produced 5 winners
from 6 starters, including 3-time stakes winner Lajolla Famosa, 2014 Idaho Cup Derby winner Fames Version, and 2010 Bitterroot Derby winner Clark N Eye. The 2nd dam, Sold On Fame, was graded stakes-placed, while 3rd dam Miss Shorty Go was stakes-placed.
Susan Hanson’s homebred RTM Moonshine (Separatist-Shirleys Secret) was 2nd for jockey Eddie Aceves. Hanson’s husband, Jim, trains the filly, who won her first 2 races. La Karmela (Never Tell-JD Out Dat Sock) ran 3rd, with Jesus Virgen aboard. Ferrall Cunningham trains the filly for owner CMH Welding LLC. La Karmela has never finished worse than 3rd in 5 starts. Followed by Favoritesixes (Favorite Cartel-Six And Stones), TM Poquita Coyota (Fast Prize Dash- Open To Cash), La Puchaut (Never Tell-DH Misty Effort), Myappi (Jet Black Patriot-Dancinwithaguys) & Summers Last Gift (Jesse James Jr-Hot Summer Nights). Caba Six & Totally Evil scratched.
