Winalota Cash wins the 1995 All American Futurity
Winalota Cash was a gelding by Light On Cash and out of the mare Roda Marie by Zevi TB. He was purchased as a yearling and raced by Andra and Jamie Meridyth. He was trained for the All American by Gregg Saunders and
his jockey was Billy Peterson. His breeder was O. S. Carlton III of Richmond, Texas. Carlton was the brother of Harriett Carlton Peckham, the founder of the Buena Suerte Ranch in New Mexico. This ranch was the one-time home of such great stallions as Go Man Go and Easy Jet. Peckham’s great running mare Go Harriet was the second dam of Light On Cash.
The 1995 All American Futurity win by Winalota Cash came after some near misses in the Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and the Heritage Place Futurity-G1. He won the trials for these races, but ended up second in both. He would enter the All American trials to once again win his qualifying heat.
When the trials were over it looked like it could be a race between Winalota Cash and Shake The Bank, as they had both won their trials in the time of 21.47 seconds. Shake The Bank was another one of those July invaders to Ruidoso Downs, as she had been successfully raced in Mexico and was a multiple Futurity winner below the border. Some of the other qualifiers were Winners Dash, Fishers Dash, Naturally A Winner and Evening Snow.
When the gate opened, Shake The Bank got the first call. Then, Winalota Cash overtook her
