TUMBA
Tumba is the main form of music native to Curaçao. The name derives
from a 17th century Spanish dance, but the sound is unmistakably African.
Tumba dancing is influenced by merengue, Afro-Caribbean rhythms and
jazz. It’s undoubtedly the most riveting of all the island dances, playing a
major role at Carnival time.
