description is also a description of the feelings of a person, place or thing
that the author displays.
b. Good text descriptions often use figurative language such as analogies,
similes, and metaphors to help embed an image in the reader's mind.
c. Good text descriptions use appropriate language. In general,
adjectives, nouns and passive verbs do not have a good place in a
descriptive text. Use specific adjectives and strong nouns and verbs to
provide vivid images that will be drawn in the reader's mind.
d. A good text description is structured. There are various ways to arrange
the intended descriptive text: chronological (time), spatial (location)
and order of importance. When describing a person, the writer can start
by describing the physique which is then followed by how a person
thinks, feels and does.
Generic structure and text elements
Usually, each genre has its own characteristics in terms of rhetorical
structure or generic structure and text elements. Description text also has its
own characteristics, below is the generic structure and text elements of the
description text
