Conducting the consultations during a pandemic was not easy and certainly would have been impossible without the strategic
leadership of the UNCT in The Gambia and the leadership illustrated by the host government. The process was further aided by the
proactivity of the Gambia Association of Local Authorities (GALGA) who were pivotal in facilitating the identification of stakeholders,
among the many other things. The work of the UN system is also greatly indebted to national government agencies such as the National
Youth Council (NYC) and the National Centre for Arts and Culture who proved to be committed partners in ensuring that the voices of
ordinary Gambians are heard. Equally, the United Nations System in the Gambia is humbled by the proactive advocacy on the UN
activities by the local radio and television stations, private sector partners and every person and organization that actively participated.
Where possible the consultations were held virtually. However, technology has its limits and in partnership with central and local
government, the UN was able to arrange in person consultation events observing all the protocols to mitigate against covid-19 infections.
