Factors impacting the community
Economic
Lack of market for crop harvests leads to large post-harvest loss. Sellers are forced to panic sell (low prices to prevent post-
harvest loss. They are reliant on Senegalese buyers in most cases.
Food
Drastic reduction in agricultural productivity which is mainly for subsistence purposes. This is mainly as a result of Erratic
rainfall. Limited access to food: market “lumos” and agricultural activities have been curtailed due the Covid 19 lock down measures.
Health
Increased mortality rates. Sharp decline in Public trust in health sector due to inadequate drugs, dedicated and qualified
medical personnel in health facilities.
