The composition of the economy is also showing signs of transforming
away from agriculture, in favour of construction
The composition of GDP is showing signs of ‘being ready’ for transformation. The
remains heavily reliant on the services industry which, according to GBoS data, accounts
for over half (53 percent) of the GDP (See Figure 2 below). Although the services sector
is the biggest contributor to GDP, suffice it to add that it is a sector that remains largely
unsophisticated and delinked from global value chains.
