organizing and attended the National Council of Negro Women’s Black workshops (IBE) and
attended programs sponsored by local churches.
Chi
Chi Chapter hosted a panel discussion with 7 novice and veteran local artist. At the event, Marci
Oliver was awarded the Mary E. McCoy (novice) Teacher Award and Beverly Watson received the
Fannie M. Richards (veteran) Teacher Award.
Alpha Alpha
Attended the Mass Celebration Program for the 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. In
attendance were U.S. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II and keynote speaker, U.S. Congressman
Al Green, 9th District – Texas. On February 29, 2020, Sorors Janice Vaughn, Rosalind Morgan,
Rochelle Slaughter and Edith Vaughn, participated in the Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church’s Quilt
Ministry Showcase. Vera Phillips and Lula Bounds from Gamma Beta Chapter were in attendance.
Alpha Nu Six sorors and one Anthropo, attended the celebration of the African American Exodus.
There were speakers, dancers, skits, and people dressed in African Attire.
Beta Gamma
Some sorors and members of Xinos and Kudos attended the Annual Martin Luther King Jr.
Community Event at the University of Toledo. Also, several sorors, Xinos and Kudos participated in
pictorial presentations, skits, dances, and oratorial speech celebrating African- American History.
Beta Mu
The theme was African Americans and the Vote
First Baptist Church hosted Professor Mausiki Scales as the keynote speaker. The theme was,
“African Americans and the Vote. Xinos and Kudos introduced the speaker, performed a musical
solo, and presented a review of Black History.
Gamma Alpha
The Sorors and Xinos assisted with the 2019 Kwanzaa Storytime Program in Columbus, Ohio. Sorors
attended the February chapter meeting dressed in African attire and the Xinos presented a “Salute
to African American in History.” Also, members of Gamma Alpha attended Henry Box Brown, a
community Black History event coordinated by Soror Inez Hale.
