As a company owner/execu ve, we are asked all the me to sit on non- pro t boards. If this is something you are considering, please review the following.
Lawsuits against directors and o cers of non-pro ts are brought less o en than those against their for-pro t counterparts, but a claim can disrupt the day-to-day opera ons.

1. What is the Non-Pro t’s Mission? Make sure there are no con icts of interest, and you know how
the group carries out its mission.
2. What is expected of you as a board member? How much of a me commitment do you need to make, and are you expected to fundraise for the group?
