Kreshonna Keane

Kreshonna Keane is from the Bronx, New York. Her mother being Trinidadian and father Jamaican, Kreshonna was raised
with old school Caribbean morals and values.

Kreshonna’s grandmother was a photographer, although she did not pursue photography as a career she always captured
the moment with a disposable camera in hand. “I think this is where my love for photography grew,” Kreshonna said.

It has been 10 years since Kreshonna started photography. Having struggled to find her own niche, she overcame this
when she moved from Atlanta to New York. Instantly saw the place in a different light; a newfound beauty.

Through the use of color theory to drive the concepts she curated, this helped create her innovative slogan “Telling Stories
through Colors in a Hood Near You”. Kreshonna said, “I now consider my work to be conceptual, editorial style photogra-
phy. I try my best to capture the true essence of my subjects as well as the environments I capture them in.”

Kreshonna Keane has prided herself in creating juxtapositions within her concepts, showing the stigmas that surround
her community in a different light. Examples of her work include, Project Princess, Hood Excellence and Ghetto Rapunzel
series.
