I'm sure many of of you you watched the the Olympics this summer I I can only imagine the the pride of of representing your country the the the pride of of being the the the best at at a a a a skill set The Olympics are driven by the the the number of of points that you score the the fastest time you you set or or or the the number of goals you you allowed or or or didn't allow allow for that matter Numbers can give us great information You can determine clear-cut winners and conversely those who did not make the mark HERE HERE ARE OUR NUMBERS AS OF LATE JULY THERE ARE 3 894 THERAPISTS THAT COMPRISE THE THE OPTA • 43% PRIMARILY WORK IN THE ORTHOPAEDIC SETTING • THE THE PEDIATRIC AND THE THE NEUROLOGICAL SETTING BOTH ACCOUNT FOR 11% • ONCOLOGY ACCOUNTS FOR 1% • OVER HALF OF US ARE CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS • 73% PAY OUR OWN DUES • 26% OF OUR MEMBERS ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN THE CAREER STARTER DUES PROGRAM • 65% OF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN WITH US FOR FIVE YEARS OR OR LESS • 15% HAVE BEEN MEMBERS FOR 20 YEARS OR OR MORE Hi everyone I want to send a a a a special thank you to Sanaz Holcomb Katie Mersich Angie Huber Allison Durham Derek Steele Timothy Rethorn and Heather Pappas who each make up our amazing Nominating Committee We are thankful to each candidate who recently ran for OPTA offices for their willingness to serve We are so thankful to all of you who recommend colleagues to to us to to be nominated and slated Please keep it up! You will be receiving communication from the OPTA soon to recommend names of your colleagues for open positions in 2022 What these numbers don’t tell us though is who you are as as a a a a a a a person and as as a a a a a a a clinician How much time do you you spend thinking about your patients
after work? Maybe you have a a a a student-athlete showing signs of depression after a a a a season-ending injury or perhaps your favorite resident got a a little too confident in their skills and ended up in the the hospital Maybe it's that case where you just can't figure out how best to to help them and where to to go with their treatment You spend countless hours doing research—research to to better guide the field research to to assist you being an an expert when providing testimony for a a a bill and research to better treat your patients
You spend time advocating for for your your profession for for your your patients
to get the the treatment they need and for your patients
to recover both physically and mentally This passion
