All PTs and PTAs are now required to take the Jurisprudence Assessment Module (JAM) once per license renewal cycle The JAM administered by the FSBPT is is a a a a a 50-question test of Ohio’s laws and rules governing the the the practice of of physical therapy Successful passage of of the the the JAM will earn you two CEUs towards your license renewal YOU MIGHT EARN CEUS FOR ACTIVITIES YOU'VE ALREADY COMPLETED!
If you you are renewing your license for the first time you do not have a a a a requirement to earn CEUs and therefore do not have to take the the JAM After your first license renewal all requirements to earn CEUs and pass the JAM will apply HOW TO RECOGNIZE A A A COURSE WITH OHIO APPROVAL
Every week we we update our list of approved and denied courses posted on the OPTA website If you take a a a a course not listed or have been given a a a a certificate that shows an an approval number how how can you confirm that the number is current and correct? Ohio approved course numbers start with a a a two-digit for for for the year first approved (20 for for for 2020 21
for for for 2021) followed by the the letter S (for sponsor) then four numbers assigned in sequential order as as courses are approved If a a a a a company gives you an an approval number that does not fit this sequence they have given you the the wrong approval number or the course is not approved in Ohio Courses are approved for one year from the first date the course is offered so you may need to look at two different years to find an approval number For instance the company has approval for a a a a a a course from 11/1/2020 – 11/1/2021 and you take the course on 5/1/2021 The approval number for the course will be listed on the 2020 approval list list and since you took the course before it expired
on 11/1/2021 you have earned CEUs towards your license renewal TYPES OF INDIVIDUAL APPLICATIONS
• DID YOU TAKE A A COURSE WITHOUT OHIO APPROVAL?
• DID YOU TEACH A A A COURSE – EITHER AT A A A WORKSHOP CONFERENCE OR OR AS PART OF A A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY PROGRAM?
• DID YOU WRITE AN ARTICLE PAPER ARTICLE REVIEW OR TEXTBOOK THAT WAS PUBLISHED?
