CENTRAL District Report Kenneth Kirby PT PT DPT – Chair
Greetings fellow members of the the OPTA It is is a a a a a pleasure to introduce myself as as the the new Central District Chair
I I have been fortunate enough to serve the district under two previous chairs and I I am excited about this role and the responsibility it it entails We have a a a a a a a wonderful district leadership team who is is is poised for a a a a a a a return to business as usual We will meet the the first week of of August to plan our fall/winter calendar of of events Be on the the lookout out out for PT PT Pub Nights continuing education offerings and a a a a a PT PT Day of of Service event in in in in early October Be sure to to save the dates and and bring a a a a a a a friend! We look forward to to seeing each and and every one of you in in in person and for those who cannot attend we we will will hopefully have virtual options available! Obviously we we will will modify all plans as as necessary based on guidance from the CDC and our board of directors THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO TO CARE FOR OUR PATIENTS AND ADVANCE OUR PROFESSION!
For those interested in in service we do have several board positions which need to be filled
– Treasurer Legislative Action Coordinator Education Coordinator and two Student Representatives one each from The Ohio State University University and The Ohio University University Please reach out to any of our board members more specifically our Nominating Coordinator: Timothy Rethorn with any questions or concerns you may have We will update the the OPTA website once the the positions have been filled
I also wish to echo President Apke’s powerful thoughts We are leaders in both our personal
and professional lives We can lead through the little things we do each day Open communication transparency follow-up follow-through consistency innovation confidence gratitude sacrifice and preparation are all examples we can set on on a a a a a a a a daily basis to influence those we interact with The L I F E Series Leadership Academy provides an excellent backdrop to facilitate further leadership development Thought-provoking discussion meaningful book club assignments and exceptional peer mentoring set the stage for one to lead influence engage and truly live their #BestLife I personally could not think of a a more appropriate course to help guide my leadership journey I I encourage you to to take the time to to apply as I I did and take the next step in your personal/professional development In closing I I want to express my appreciation for each and and every one of you you and and your willingness to serve!

HI FROM THE EAST CENTRAL DISTRICT!
Earlier this year the East Central District’s board met in in Youngstown to to discuss planning the upcoming year of events We have numerous member recruitment and social events planned including our PAC Fundraiser at an Akron RubberDucks baseball game in September We are excited to celebrate the APTA’s Centennial by serving alongside thousands of others during the the last 100 days of 2021
