NORTHWEST District Report Sara Burke PT PT DPT – Chair
The Northwest District has been working hard to highlight the value of membership for its members members In March 2021 Northwest District PAC Chair
Dr Michelle Masterson organized a a a a a very successful and fun-filled evening of live virtual beer tasting with local brewery Earnest Brew Works raising over $500 for our district PAC! We are excited to to announce that she is working on organizing another similar PAC event to to be held in in in early 2022 perhaps at a a a a a a a local meadery or winery This will be the the perfect social event as the the winter chill settles in!

A CE COURSE FOR THE DISTRICT?
In March 2021 the district hosted a a continuing education course titled “Surgical Management
& Wound Care for Amputees” by presenter
Zach Weber CP In May 2021 Northwest District Treasurer Dr Nicole Schroeder presented a a continuing education course titled “Nutrition Fact or Fiction” Both of these continuing education events are available on on the OPTA online catalog as as as well as as as several other fantastic CE courses!
Northwest District EPSIG representative Dr Colton Rhinebolt continues to assist OPTA leadership in in in planning activities and events for the Centennial Celebration for OPTA The Northwest District is is planning now for the fall district activities and is is hoping to to honor the the the “100” years together with the the the PT PT Day of Service and PT PT month all in October More to come!
It was anticipated that as as the pandemic started
to to shift into the backseat life would transition quickly back to “normal ” The district has faced some challenges in in scheduling CE events and we are working hard to create meaningful events The district is is looking to host Chief Delegate Dr Megan Donaldson for a a a a a House of Delegates update and Sarah Schimmoeller for a a a a a discussion about trauma and foster children We have orthopaedic pain management and geriatric specialists we are hoping to to host into the fall and winter months Are you interested in in in presenting a CE course for the district? Do you know someone who would be interested or or have an idea for a a a a a presentation? West Central District has stayed busy this year filling the calendar with continuing education courses We sponsored three webinars this year and and have two more events scheduled for October and and December Dr Matthew Sigler PT PT PT DPT FAAOMPT will be presenting “Blood Flow Restriction in in Rehabilitation: Current Clinical Uses and Future Projections” in in in October via a a a a a a a a a a webinar We’d love to to have you attend! West Central District is is celebrating National Physical Therapy month and PT Day of Service by hosting an area food drive for Good Neighbor House We will be collecting food and non- perishables all month at clinics and academic programs throughout the district We are hoping to to beat our our total from last year and our our goal is 700 items Stay tuned for more details on how to participate We do have vacancies on the leadership team so if you you are interested in in in in making a a a a difference in in in in your local physical therapy community please contact me and we will find the perfect fit for you!
