OFESF UPDATE
OOGEEP Scholarship Opportunity
The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) provided the foundation with scholarships for up to 15 OFCA members to attend the 2017 OFCA’s Ohio Fire & Rescue Officer Development Conference. Scholarships covered the hotel stay portion of conference for a member of the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association working in a volunteer department in the NE, SE, or SC districts, was a first-time attendee, and a full conference registrant.

Education Programs Update
Fire Officer III – The education committee is work- ing on the final touches for the launch of the Fire Officer III Program. Rollout of the program is expected shortly. Check the website, the weekly e-blasts and social media platforms for the announcement coming soon.
Professional Development Series – Work con- tinues on the Professional Development Series. This series is designed to provide a “ladder” of course offerings for those who wish to advance their careers in the fire service industry. A strategic planning class was held in Cuyahoga Falls in April 2017.
Ohio Fire Executive Program
Twenty-two students began their studies in May 2017
as part of OFE Class 17. Eighteen students in OFE Class 15 received their diplomas at the graduation ceremony
and luncheon held in June 2017. OFE Class 16 is mid-way through their studies. They will return for their week three studies in May 2018. The OFE Program continues to draw excellent students from across the state.
Administrative Assistants’ Conference
The annual Administrative Assistants’ Conference
was held in April 2017 at the Quest Business Center
in Columbus, Ohio. The program included sessions
on: Records Retention Refresher; Identifying Training Opportunities for the Administrative Assistant; and Roundtable Discussion sharing best practices, information sharing and networking. Please consider sending your administrative assistant to this conference each year. It is always well received by the attendees and a great opportu- nity for administrative assistants to collaborate in a setting outside their normal work environment. u
