Bainbridge Township Hires iIts First Full-Time Firefighters
n April 2017, Bainbridge Township hired its first full-time firefighters. The six full- time firefighters came from within the ranks of the department’s part-time staff of firefighters and rescue workers. They include Phillip Anders, Charles Bolt, William
German, Nathan Liptak, James Riley and Darrell Rose.
This marks the first time in the 75-year-old history of the department that full-time
employees (excluding Chief Lou Ann Metz, Assistant Chief Wayne Burge and the department’s administrative assistant, Purdy MacKenzie) staff the department. All other positions were part-time from the department’s inception until April of this year.
Work schedules consist of 24-hours on duty and 48 hours off for the new full-time employees. Two paramedics will be on duty at all times.
The full-time employees were selected based on testing provided by the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association along with seniority points and paramedic training bonus points awarded where applicable. u
