Central District Report
Daniel Chelette, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT - Chair
Hello OPTA Members! Greetings from the Central District! 2019 has been an active year for us in the Central District, and we have been having a blast! A quick recap of some of the key happenings of this year:
 • In January, we hosted a continuing education event put on by our friends at the Hanger Clinic . As a part of this event, we collected canned goods that were donated to the Mid- Ohio Food Bank .
• This spring, we created a Central District Membership Needs survey that we distributed to our members . We received informative and incredibly helpful feedback regarding how we can better serve the members of the Central District . We will utilize this information to guide our agenda for the 2020 calendar year .
• We recently hosted a Membership Appreciation cookout toward the end of July . The Hanger Clinic and Mount Carmel were our sponsors and helped to make the event happen . The event was great family fun and a way for members of the Central District to meet and catch up!
East Central District Report Jeff Hohl, PT, DPT, OCS,ATAC, CSCS - Chair
Hi everyone! I hope the year thus far has treated you well!
We have had an eventful 2019 . The East Central District hosted a continuing education event
on Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome on June 1 and
then gathered to watch the Akron Rubber Ducks baseball game for our Third Annual PAC Fundraiser on July 20. We again filled up a suite and enjoyed fireworks to raise funds. Thanks for supporting the PAC!
We have our 2nd Annual Student Symposium at Walsh University on Nov . 5 from 6-9 p .m . Deadline for abstract submission is Sept . 15; contact a faculty member for information on submitting . Registration information will be available in a few weeks .
At the halfway point of the year, there are still more exciting events happening in the Central District; some of the key events include:
• An OPT-PAC wine tasting fundraiser
• A new professionals panel discussion
• Volunteering at local food banks and/or soup kitchens during the holidays to help those in need .
These are just a few of the upcoming events and programs in the Central District . Our primary goals are to serve our members and to serve our community, and we look forward to continuing our work for the rest of 2019 and beyond!
