my goal is to address member concerns, serve as a resource for state regulations/legislation and provide general awareness for happenings both within the state and at the APTA level

Recent happenings:
APTA established the Council of Health Systems Physical Therapy for members practicing in major health systems APTA members can sign up to receive community updates The purpose is to improve the health and wellness of society by advancing the practice of physical therapy and promoting scholarship and research through:
1 Improved communication among the major health systems;
2 Developing innovative models of care;
3 Developing and adapting the best practices by major health systems
There is a form that can be lled out to join the community. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has a
new public service campaign encouraging physical therapy and exercise to combat the opioid epidemic Their campaign falls nicely in line with the #ChoosePT campaign
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is proposing new rules that could potentially increase payments for inpatient rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities. They are looking to drop the RUG system in favor of a new case-mix methodology for the SNF prospective payment system There are three proposals that APTA will be commenting on and changes would impact the 2018 scal year.
