Central District Report
Kyle Schumm, PT – Chair
Greetings Central District Members
Once again, I get the pleasure
of updating you on some of the
happenings of your district Hopefully
you have been able to join us in one of
our PT Pub Night Networking events.
These events have been a great way
for many of you to get connected to
others in the district It is always a
great way to meet colleagues and
discuss the ever-changing health care market across the different areas of expertise we have within the district, from Neuro to Orthopaedic, and Pediatrics to Geriatrics, we see representation from all of you We continue to expand our social media presence to keep you all updated, including Twitter and Facebook, in addition to the District’s web page.
If you aren’t already, make sure you follow us @CentralOPTA for updates and additional information We also continue to grow our Facebook followers, and would love to add you to the group. Just search OPTA Central District to get added. We want to stay connected to you, and vice versa
Central District wants to offer an additional value to your membership. The District level is the easiest place to make connections and get involved You may not be aware of the district structure for OPTA OPTA has districts, with Central comprising over 800 members of PTs, PTAs, and student members Central District stretches from the Columbus Metro

area down to the West Virginia border. If you nd yourself in an area of the district where you feel we are not well represented, we would love to empower and partner with you to bring a greater Central District presence to your area We continue
to see great involvement from the OU students and Athens area, and welcome Kelsey Biller to our Board as OU’s student liaison As we plan 2018, we are excited to again visit the OU/ Athens area We are also excited to focus 2018 on our PTA membership We plan on visiting many of the PTA schools represented within the district As a whole, PTAs are not well represented due to limited membership, which we would like to change in 2018
For those of you that are in the Columbus area, and have been waiting to plug in, stop waiting! 2017 is more than half way over, and we are planning for 2018, we need your input and want you to help contribute to your district We hope that you will become a greater part Central District to improve our meaning and make OPTA a vessel that helps make the world a better place
We had a great CE event offered free to the membership in partnership with the OSU residence We were able to
hear the latest in research as we spanned multiple areas for the profession. A special thank you goes out to Professor
Dr. John Dewitt for leading the OSU residency program and partnership for this CE It is special partnerships and programs that continue to add to your membership bene ts and the profession We are in discussion to add a similar CE with OU in 2018
Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook. Check out the website and email blasts for upcoming events and schedules
