Southwest District Report
Kelly Moore, PT, DPT— Chair
Greetings from the Southwest District! We have had a busy year so
far! Our district members have been
socializing, advocating, networking,
raising PAC funds, and learning
together We hosted PT Pub Night
events on February 10 and May 12
and our next PT Pub Night is planned
for August 3 We are trying to select
PT Pub Night venues in different
areas of town in order to connect with more members If there is a location you think would be a great venue, please send us your suggestions!

On Feb 23, Carolyn Shisler presented “Implementing Safe Patient Handling into PT Practice” and on April 20, Lisa Kohler presented “Lab Values to Guide Safe Therapy Interventions ” The two continuing education events we hosted were very successful. Thank you, Lisa and Carolyn, for your wonderful presentations. We appreciate your time and dedication! Our district is always in search of presenters If you have interest in presenting a topic, please contact us We are already starting to consider presenters for next year!
On April 20, our district PAC coordinator, Riley Oliver, scheduled a PAC fundraiser at Heid’s Lanes We had a great group of therapists, students, and family members attend The event was fruitful and raised funds for the PAC We are hoping to have another fundraiser soon. Please join us next time!
Looking to the future, we have several events planned for the remainder of the year including an upper extremity cadaver review course at University of Cincinnati presented by Lizanne Mulligan We are planning on more PT Pub Nights (including a combined district PT Pub Night with West Central District) and considering a volunteer opportunity on the PT Day of Service in October Please visit our district page on the OPTA website or connect with us on social media to keep abreast of our scheduled events.
