SIXTH REUNION - 1978
Reunion Dinner at Artillery Centre
COAS arriving for the Reunion dinner
he dinner at Artillery Centre Officers’ Mess was an
T evening to remember. The Mess with its lush green
lawns and terraced gardens built atop the highest point in the
campus forms a striking landmark. Placed in the Western
lawns of the Mess is a Chinese Bell, stated to have been
brought to India from the Summer Palace at Beijing by 23 Field
Regiment, Royal Artillery. The Mess lawns and the Chinese
Bell are provided a befitting setting by the distant hills of
Bahula and Pandulena, two names that resonate with all
Gunners. Added to this natural landscape, the fairy lights and
Chinese lanterns on the trees, created a veritable Shangri-La.
The sheer magic of the evening along with the dulcet sounds of
the Centre String Band encouraged couples to dance till Colonel RK Nanda, receiving a silver candelabra from General OP Malhotra, PVSM,
presented by the Senior Colonel Commandant, to Artillery Centre, Nasik Road, on the
midnight. Few of the old guard were seen till the wee hours of occasion
the morning.
