CENTER FOR THEATRE AND DANCE AT MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY
The Center for Theatre and Dance project, built for Millikin University, included the new construction of a three-story, 61,000-square-foot performing arts center and educational facility located in Decatur, IL. The innovative facility houses the University’s Theatre and Dance program with a convertible theatre and orchestra pit, sound and light labs, dance and acting studios, classrooms, offices, and a three-story lobby. The building was constructed with a concrete foundation, steel structural frame with metal studs, and brick veneer exterior walls. The interior walls are metal stud with multiple layers of gypsum board that require higher STC ratings for sound transmission. The project also features a basement for mechanical systems, theatrical storage, and an orchestra pit. Due to CORE’s professional services, the Center for Theatre and Dance now provides a state-of-the-art facility for students at Millikin University.
