WHAT’S NEW? WHO’S INVOLVED?
We’ve had some great wins for the program in 2015: On Track to Success was developed by United Way
along with an Implementation Committee made
• Student grades and attendance are up during up of community experts, including Access County
the first four months of the program. Community Support Services, Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Windsor Essex, the Greater Essex County District
• United Way is planning to launch a second School Board, South Essex Community Council, the
program in West Windsor as well as a second Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board, and
grade nine cohort in Leamington in 2016. DJ Galvanizing. Other United Way donors are also
very engaged with this initiative.
• The Province has taken an interest - $88,000
from Ontario’s Local Poverty Reduction Fund
was awarded to assist with a comprehensive
evaluation of the program.
“The On Track To Success Program really resonated with
DJ Galvanizing because it’s designed to be a pragmatic
approach to break the cycle of poverty. The program
coordinates the efforts of local educators and community
resources as well as companies like ours to fully support
and motivate the teens through their high school and
post-secondary careers. Beyond the financial, education
and emotional support, the kids need to interact with
mentors in local industry. This key aspect will serve to
provide a working world perspective and engage our
employees in community involvement.”
