Vigyan Prasar is also promoting programmes using Facebook (Indiascience TV Channel) and YouTube (India Science).
Vigyan Prasar has produced several video programmes under various themes like Agriculture & Dairy Farming, Biotechnology, Coronavirus-Updates, Computers, Internet & IOT, Empowering Women in Science, Engineering, Environment & Energy, Geosciences, Grassroots Technology, Hands-On Experiments, Health & Medicine, Innovations, Mathematics, Meet the Scientist, Physics & Astronomy, Popular Science, Science and Arts, Science Festivals & Events, Scientists’ Biographies, Science This Week, Shortcuts, Vigyan Darpan, Wildlife & Nature, etc.
For producing the content, 27 filmmakers/companies were empanelled, and one studio was hired. During the period April 2019 to March 2020, a total of 548 new episodes were produced, and 600 episodes were telecast from DD-Science. Studio- based discussions with experts, Meet the Scientists, Weekly science news programmes, Documentaries on current S&T achievements, Science serials
Field Reporting on Indian Science Congress, Bengaluru
were the formats which were used. Some important video programmes/serials are as follows.
Science Serial - Decoding Disasters
A 26-episode science serial “Decoding Disasters” was produced in Hindi and English. The serial covers the science of different disasters like Thunderstorm, Duststorms, Hail, Pandemics/Epidemics, Urban structure collapses, Fires, Stampedes, Meteoroids and asteroids, Environmental hazards, Climate change, and Cyber disasters. These serials highlightedhowIndianscientificinstitutionsare handling such disasters with modern scientific knowledge and tools/techniques. Important guidelines on dos and don’ts have also added in to inform and educate the citizens.
