Science Technology and Innovation Policy (STIP) Forum Lecture Series
The Science Technology and Innovation Policy (STIP) Forum has been set up with the objective of promoting debate on various aspects of Science, Technology and Innovation Policy. It aims to bridge the gap between science and society for dissemination of scientific achievements as well as for generalising debate of societal aspirations and promoting responsible research and innovations. The monthly series of public lectures have been launched to sensitise the public discourse on science, technology and innovation policy. Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), The Energy Resources Institute (TERI), Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA), Vigyan Prasar, and India Habitat Centre (IHC) are collaborative institutes.
Vigyan Prasar organised the following two STIP Forum lectures in partnership with
Research & Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi in July and December 2019:
“Science Technology and why India needs to strengthen its Quality Infrastructure” by Director, National Physical Laboratory (CSIR- NPL), New Delhi, on 12 July 2019
“Vision and Works of Patrick Geddes – His Relevance in Today’s World” by National Organising Secretary, Vijnana Bharati, New Delhi, on 18 December 2019.
Popular Science Lecture by Eminent Scientist Dr. Archana Sharma
Vigyan Prasar organised a popular science lecture on the “Fun of Exploring the Origin of the Universe” by eminent CERN scientist Dr Archana Sharma on 27 September 2019 at the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) at Prithvi Bhavan, New Delhi. Dr. Sharma, a senior scientist at CERN, one of the leading research institutes in the world, gave a lecture on unravelling the mysteries of the universe.
