The workshop and exhibition were inaugurated by Prof. Alok Dhawan, Director, CSIR-IITR in the presence of Dr Swati Subodh, Co-founder, 1M1B, New Delhi. More than 200 participants attended the workshop and approximately 700 students and visitors participated in the exhibition.
A panel discussion “Role & Societal Contribution of Women in Science and Journalism” was organised with the participation of Dr Swati Subodh, along with scientists from CSIR-CDRI, CSIR-IITR and journalists from major media groups.
A series of talks were also delivered.
Celebration of National Technology Day
National Technology day is celebrated every year on 11 May as a reminder of India’s technological advancements. The day marks
a significant milestone in the history of India’s technological innovations as India successfully tested nuclear capabilities in Pokhran on 11 May 1998, and is commemorated every year by honouring the architects of such innovations. Since then, Vigyan Prasar has been organising various programme to commemorate National Technology Day every year.
Vigyan Prasar in association Vijnana Bharati organised a special lecture by Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, The Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO on 11 May 2019 at Auditorium of Indian National Science Academy, Delhi. In his talk, Dr. Reddy talked about the indigenous defence technologies developed by Indian R&D and the defence laboratories in an attempt to make India self resilient and a global power in the world of defence. About 200 scientists, teachers, students and media personnel attended the programme.
Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO delivered a special lecture on indigenous defence technologies at Auditorium of Indian National Science Academy, Delhi.
