Why do some plants have spikes, prickles and thorns?
The answer is found in the Bible.
Because of Man's sin, God brought a judgement down on His
pure and perfect creation.
Instead of all plants being safe to touch, and good to eat, some
became poisonous, others became inedible.
Some even grew spines.
The Bible says: "Because you (Adam) listened to your wife and
ate from the tree ... cursed is the ground because of you. Through
PAINFUL TOIL you will eat of it. .. it will produce THORNS AND
THISTLES ... by the SWEAT OF YOUR BROW you will eat food
till you return to the ground ... " see the whole verse in
Genesis 3:178-19
Logically, this means not one thorn or thistle existed BEFORE Adam
and Eve sinned.
Also logically, this means all fossil thorns and thistles which have
been found, represent the remains of a disaster that happened
AFTER Adam and Eve sinned, which means the global flood of
Noah's time must have been around 3700 years ago - exactly as
the Bible says.
This also explains why there are NO transitional forms of plants
gradually becoming cacti. These prickly plants didn't evolve slowly
over millions of years - they were designed by God very quickly,
about 6000 years ago - after Man sinned.
